the difference is the australians and asian's attitude towards gambling

Australia tops the world when it comes to gambling losses. Singapore is a distant 2nd.

WORLD'S TOP GAMBLING COUNTRIES

Many countries around the world love playing games of chance because of the thrills and excitement they offer. However, home nations take their love of casino gambling a little too far and wager more than they can handle. That said, it's worth taking a look at the top gambling countries....or should we say biggest degenerate nations.

1. Australia
If there's one truth in this world, it's that Aussies love to gamble. In fact, the average Australian adult loses almost $1,300 per year while playing casino games. Sports betting is one of the biggest sources of wagering in the Land Down Under since Aussies bet heavily on football and rugby. Slots games (a.k.a. pokies) are also widely played throughout casinos here.
2. Singapore
It's only been a couple of years since Singapore opened itself up to casino gaming. And amazingly, they're already the second biggest nation in terms of gambling losses since the average adult loses almost $1,200 per year. Singapore residents play so many casino games that the island city-state is already set to pass Las Vegas' gaming revenue in the near future.
3. Ireland
The phrase "luck of the Irish" must not apply to gambling because the average adult here drops $588 annually on casino games. Sure this is a far cry from what those in Australia and Singapore lose, but it's still the third most in the world. You can only expect to see further growth here since a major casino complex is currently being constructed in Tipperary.

did the losses come from native aussies or were they from visitors/tourists? from my observation and personal experiences, the average aussie is not as avid as a Chinese or a Singaporean

You're obviously not familiar with OZ rules and league. The betting is HUGE and it's 90% true blue OZ punts. The Asians and visitors don't get involved as they don't know anything about the game. Cricket takes a big share too and Indian OZs would bet their grandmothers.

My friend, Jocelyn, is having her 1st child in Nov. She is a Singaporean and wants her child to be raised as an Australian. She intends to give birth to her child in australia.

I wonder what you think of her decision?

you think aussie stupid iszit ?

Children born are only Australian citizens if at least one parent is an Australian citizen or permanent resident at the time of their birth.

Children born in Australia to parents who are not Australian citizens or permanent residents, automatically acquire Australian citizenship on their 10th birthday if they have lived most of their life in Australia.

so can Jocelyn and the baby continues to stay in australia ?

I certainly dont think australians are stupid. Jocelyn is an aus PR. will that make her child an aus citizen?

The biggest casino in Australia is the TAB. You can bet on just about ANYTHING and the Aussies don't hesitate when it comes to a wager.

Just like UK..they wager on anything. But is TAB's games addictive ?

Any gambling can be addictive. And yes, Aussies are big gamblers as well. Asians migrants makes up a large portion in the casinos here. The question is, if the kid can or know how to control this. Same situation for weed, I know many aussies that takes it on a regular basis, they work just as fine like any other normal person. A lot of politicians have also come out admitting they took some before. Bob Carr and several white papers/commissions have also suggested making it legal. Weed at this point is more or less decriminalised if you use it for personal uses. You might get checked by the sniffers dogs, but if you admit to using it before or they find less then an ounce on you, you'll be let off with a warning.

Congrats on your friend, public or private? I'll suggest that you just let her go to a public hospital rather then spend that money in private. The public health system is good. I recently have a baby boy and I don't pay a single cent through the public system.

Unlike your time in SG, nowadays, young female teenagers are openly prostituting themselves.

I hate to break the news to you sweetheart. Young female teenagers have been prostituting themselves (for a quick buck, or to overcome financial distress) in SG since the dawn of time. The internet is just another distribution channel.

I don't know. I don't gamble either. I'll have to ask my friend who spends half his time on the TAB website and the other half at the greyhound and horse racing tracks.
