well just to be fair, there are local Indians who also have such spanish/ portugese last name, such as the one above.
To be fair.. I don't care about the race or religion, or even nationality of the particular person who took advantage of this autistic girl.

To be honest, I don't care if an offender is S'porean or foreigner.. sex predators cannot be allowed to get off that easily.
However, if he is indeed a foreigner then the no rottan/canning is even more severe as this WILL set a presedence for future cases.
Autistic is not treated as a mental disorder. not normally.. but there are varying degrees for ppl who have this condition. And, in Singapore.. to be different.. is to be a "target", be it in society or in school.
This girl was probably feeling ostracized and alienated by all around her. To actually take advantage of this weakness ni sucha young girl.. underaged in the eyes of the law.. is unforgivable.
So, YES.. I really don't care if the offender is a S'porean or a foreigner.. as long as the punishment is dealt severely and swiftly, so as to deter more cases like this from happening.
And.. if this shameless man is INDEED a FOREIGNER.. the sentence SHOULD and MUST be HARSHER, to send a clear message to all that you do not mess around in SG. Now.. if only the ppl who are serving the ppl of SG have the balls to do exactly that.. then our society will be less unfair.. as bro T68 puts it in his Siggie.

Many Sri Lankans have such names ending with Fernando, Ranatunga, Roshan, Wickramasinghe, etc...

Yes, I do agree with you that our young girls, especially those that are abnormal should be protected from such sex predators at all cost.
However, I am certain that the police here will go to lengths to prosecute such vulnerable people.
The Police can only hand over such cases to the Judiciary which should mete out stiff sentences on sex people to send a message that such acts will not be tolerated here.
