One of the suspect Hairee Landak's employer, who runs Naz Cleaning Services, said the man – his only employee from Sarawak – had been working for him for six months. Hairee lived in Johor, he said.

"He usually cleans boutique shops from 8.30am to 1pm, and has generally been a good worker. This is not his first job in Singapore, but I do not know how long he had been working here," he said.​

Over at Pasir Panjang Wholesale Centre, where arrested suspect Peter Usit Musa works as a fruit packer, his employer, Ms Irene Kee of Lai Soon Fresh Fruits, said he had been staying at her brother's construction company office at Stirling Road.​

"Last week, he had asked for two days off from work to go to Johor Baru for a celebration, and I allowed him to go off for one day on Tuesday," she said. She said the Sarawakian had worked as a sweeper before joining the company in July last year. "He was generally quiet and kept to himself at work," she said.

SINGAPORE : Five people believed to have been involved in the recent spate of attacks in the Kallang area, which left one man dead and three others seriously injured, appeared before a district court Wednesday morning.

The quintet from Sarawak, who are between 19 and 31 years old, work as general workers in Singapore. Prosecutors asked that Micheal Garing, Tony Imba, Hairee Landak, Shahman Milak and Sylvester Baragok be detained for another week to assist in investigations.

They are currently in remand at Central Police Division and will be back in court June 16. Another gang member, Peter Usit Musa, is also expected in court Thursday. The six men were arrested after an intensive police operation was mounted to track down the perpetrators behind a series of armed robberies which occurred in the vicinity of Sims Drive and Geylang on May 30.

19-year-old Donny Meluda, who is also believed to be part of the robberies, is still at large. The attacks left 41-year-old Indian national Shanmuganathan Dillidurai dead. Micheal Garing was charged last week with the murder. He allegedly committed the murder with Tony Imba, and Hairee Landak.

Meanwhile, gang members Sylvester Barogok, and Shahman Milak, are also accused of committing gang robbery. If convicted of murder, Micheal faces the death penalty. The rest could be jailed between five and 20 years and receive not less than 12 strokes of the cane for armed robbery. - TODAY/jy

THREE Sarawakians accused of murdering an Indian national in Kallang on Wednesday faced fresh charges for a series of armed and gang robbery. Micheal Garing, 22, Hairee Landak, 20, and Tony Imba, 31, face between five and seven charges each. The trio were earlier charged with the murder of construction worker Shanmugam Dillidurai, 41, at the open field along Kallang Road near a condominium on May 30. A fourth man, Donny Meluda, 19, is on the run.

In two of the fresh cases, they are said to have slashed their victims - Mr Sandeep Singh, 24, and full-time national serviceman (NSF) Ang Jun Heng, 18 - during the robberies. In another case against Micheal and Tony, they allegedly hit the victim, Mr F.M. Noman Md Faizur Rahman, 34, on the head with a piece of rock, punched and kicked him during the hold-up under an MRT track behind Sims Ville Condominium between May 27 and 28. Meanwhile, a seventh Malaysian was brought to court to face gang robbery charges.

Landa Sulai, 27, was initially charged a week ago with robbing Indian national Raja Jana Kazi, 20, of his cellphone, $32, work permit and ez-Link cards while one of more of them was armed with a parang. His alleged accomplices are: Micheal, Hairee, Tony, Donny, Peter Usit Musa, 22, Sylvester Barogok, 26, and Shahman Milak, 21. Except for Shahman, Micheal, Hairee, Tony, Peter, Sylvester and Landa are alleged to have robbed Chinese national Wang Jiuseng, 47, of his $300 cellphone at an open field along Sims Place on May 28 night. Micheal, Hairee and Tony were remanded until July 7 for psychiatric examination while the rest will be back in court in two weeks.

A GANG of men accused of the Kallang slashings last month may be responsible for more crimes than originally thought. At least three more robberies - of a foreign national, an elderly man and a Chinese national - have allegedly been traced back to them. The alleged offences took place mostly in the Kallang area as well, between May 27 and 30, during a crime spree which culminated in the fatal slashing of an Indian construction worker in an open field.

In court yesterday, all but one of the seven Sarawakians - Shahman Milak, 21 - faced fresh charges of armed robbery, gang robbery and/or robbery with hurt. Three general workers - Micheal Garing, 22, Hairee Landak, 19, and Tony Imba, 31 - have also been brought to court for allegedly murdering Mr Shanmuganathan Dillidurai, 41, on May 30. The other four who were charged earlier with gang robbery are: Shahman Milak, Sylvester Barogok, 26, Peter Usit Musa, 22, and Landa Sulai, 27, who was the last to be brought to court last week for allegedly robbing Mr Raja Kana Kazi at Sims Drive on May 28.

SINGAPORE : A Bangladeshi cleaner who was hurt in the Kallang slashing case earlier this year has told the court that he was unable to identify his assailants.

This is even though three of those accused of hurting the 21-year-old stood before him in the dock on Monday.

On the first day of a 10-day trial involving the trio, Raja Jana Kazi told District Judge Paul Quan that one of his assailants used a knife to slash the left side of his head.

Pointing to a scar near his forehead, the visibly nervous young man added that about six or seven people attacked him under an overhead bridge near Block 41 Sims Drive between 9pm and midnight on May 28.

He also said that the group robbed him of S$30 cash, a mobile phone and an EZ-link card.

The three Malaysians - 26-year-old cleaner Slyvester Beragok, 22-year-old deliveryman Peter Usit Musa and 28-year-old labourer Landa Sulai - were unrepresented.

They looked calm as they cross examined Mr Raja and Peter was even spotted smiling to himself on several occasions.

Besides Mr Raja, the prosecution will be calling on eight other witnesses.

They include 46-year-old China national Wang Jiu Sheng, who was robbed under an MRT track near Lorong 17 Geylang that evening.

The group allegedly made off with the construction worker's mobile phone worth S$230.

It is believed the trio committed these offences with three other alleged accomplices, 20-year-old Hairee Landak, 22-year-old Micheal Garing and 32-year-old Tony Imba.

Hairee, Micheal and Tony have also been charged with the murder of a 41-year-old Indian construction worker, Shanmuganathan Dillidurai.

Their case will be mentioned again on December 29.

To date, one man has already admitted that he was involved in the crime spree.

Twenty-two-year-old technician Shahman Milak was part of a group that attempted to rob an unknown man under an MRT track near Sims Avenue on May 26.

He was sentenced to two years' jail and six strokes of the cane on October 1.
