More civil servants in graft fight
KOTA KINABALU: More civil servants are helping the Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) fight graft in Sabah by lodging reports on bribery attempts.
During a talk by the MACC here on Tuesday, state director Jalil Jaafar said the agency had received nearly 1,000 reports on alleged corruption in the state last year.
The talk, involving community leaders, was aimed at promoting public's participation in tackling corruption.
"The majority of the cases lodged by government servants involved information related to monetary payments," he said, adding that there were about 600 reports on such cases so far.
Jalil said thirty-seven people had been charged with corruption in the first eight months of this year.
