Went on a survey and interviewed several SYT from China and Vietnam from these Massage joints masquerading under TCM, facial salon , hair dressing , Spa , Healthcare etc and findings are shocking to share with the public.
Many of these young girls are from the rural parts of China and Vietnam , they were recruited by recruitment agencies who work closely with masseuses already working a couple of months or years here. These season masseuses are given commission /introductory fees when they introduce new village girls to the agents who charge between $3000 to $5000 for securing a Work permit here , Spass permits even pay more for the employment pass. All of them were promised good income of between $8000 to $15000 a month for foot reflexology and body massage ( but extra sex service is not mentioned at this juncture only when the girls arrived after payments are made to the agents ). Along the way the introducers are paid between $300 to $1000 depending on how young and pretty are the girls lured into this job ) the bulk of the money paid by the new girls are shared amongst the agency and even the Massage ( employers with massage license ) shop owners ! The China agent works hand in hand with the employment agencies in Singapore who will arrange the necessary work permits to employ these girls. At this point, employment agencies will recruit unemployed and old folks to make up the head count of 9 in order to obtain work permit for the girl. Most of these Massage parlors are registered in the name of elderly folks who are initially paid a commission , they are known as the Sole Proprietor or owner of the business , many of these shops are run by the investors’ mistresses who are generally masseuses that these investors have an interest in. The phantom “elderly boss” does not have access to the account books and bank accounts , they are no longer in the picture only when a crime is committed . Once there’s a raid and when sex trade is established , the investor and his mistress will surrender the elderly folk to take the rap , if a fine is imposed , it will be promptly paid . However , if there is jail term , the elderly folk will represent the actual investor to serve his prison term . In most cases the elderly folk who is often uneducated does not get any compensation since he does not know how to defend himself.
Majority of these massage shops are into the sex trade , the new girls only gets $12 to $15 of the massage fee for each client and despite working long hours from 9am to 1am every day with only 2 rest days a month , their income falls below $1200 a month. This is insufficient to pay for their meals , room rental , public transport , repaying borrowed money to pay the recruitment agents, not even able to remit money home for their aged parents or feed their children ! This is when the actual investor and their China mistress will encourage them to offer sex and masterbate services to earn higher incomes. They were assured of lookouts and Cctv installations to protect the girls from being caught red handed during surprise raids. Girls were told it’s only just a hand masterbate and she will get at least $50 and additional tips too, if client wants sex , do not strip completely , just pull down the disposable shorts and likewise she lowers her panty . The girl will then go out to the reception counter to inform the lookout who will then stay near entrance . Once there’s danger , she will raise the alarm with the press of a button to set off the alarm . A full course will be at least $100 , which in this instance is referred to as Happy ending massage. This service has attracted not only the locals but many foreigners to take advantage of these young girls during the pandemic when overseas traveling is restricted. The girls confided that Indian clients have increased 10 folds besides Europeans who are working here from overseas . Unfortunately, most of the non whites will always pay them lesser than $100 after Happy ending , their excuses are they did not have enough money or they expect better and longer time .
Life of these girls is really quite sad , with little education and suffering from poverty , yet when they are being severely exploited . A few of them also shared with me that there were not paid by the massage owners in full , when they reported to the MOM , the bosses pretended to be losing money in their business and refused to pay them in full. Then they start their musical chair excuses that they sold their business to another party . This change of hands process to avoid paying overdue salaries to the girls will drag on and on with several changes of ownership to deceive the MOM that their business is not doing well. But a check with the former colleague confirms the original boss is still running the show although the massage shop has even changed their business name . Sad that they stoop so low to fleece the girls who wish to leave for home , they offered to mediate to settle by paying $1000 to $2000 , which is much lesser than 10% of what they owe the girls. They boldly tell the girls they will not pay them in full as they have already sold the business though it was just changing of ownership names to confuse everyone including MOM. Hence , a writ of seizure is the best solution for the plaintiff to get to the bottom in order to recover her unpaid salary.
Hopefully, this trade will be better regulated and more anti vice raid s conducted to stop the sex trade . Also , at this time of heightened alert , massage shops should be under stricter control to prevent more virus infection that goes undetected.
