If there's a minimum wage for workers, then there's a minimum price for consumers. It's profit out of the price that the wage is paid. Then middle class executives will feel the squeeze as their wages though much above the minimum, can't afford to pay for so many things anymore.
Is it then, exploitation of elder and unskilled workers for the cost benefits of the middle and upper cases? In a sense, yes, for the poor elderlies shouldn't have to work at all. The government should take care of basic dignifiable living standard and condition for those who can't afford to.
The government line has always been, if they take care of poor people out of the taxes from rich people, poor people would become lazy, don't work, don't save for their retirement; rich people would migrate somewhere else.
In my humble opinion, that line is as true as two graduate parents would produce a genius offspring; two uneducated parents would produce an idiot. Nobody wants to rely on welfare or charity for basic living. Nobody making a comfortable living would migrate just because of tax. Nobody is asking the government to tax the rich exhorbitantly high. However, regrettably and regressively, the government keeps decreasing and even abolishing taxes for the rich while increasing and introducing more taxes that burden the poor more and most, in the name of "fairness."
The government paid themselves millions and counting for more expensive, slower and worse governance while asking the people to work for cheaper, faster and better. Does that make any sense in rationale, dear hostages.
