MDA is already making its first move?

somehow as the days past by, i realised sam is missing sg. he used to be on the extreme end that hate PAP to the core when the forum just started. now look at him LOL

I've never hated the PAP. Like all govts, they have their faults and their redeeming qualities. The PAP govt may not be the best in the world but it definitely ranks in the top 10% as far as govts go.

When the internet was in its infancy, there were very few sites where people could vent their frustrations about the sinkie govt. I therefore decided to set the tone with an on line version of a typical Kopi Tiam where sinkies could curse and swear at the govt before they dutifully voted them back into power every 5 years. That's how the Delphi Alfresco Coffee Shop took wings. They saw me screwing the govt and jumped on the bandwagon in response.

In those days, there were very few sites where netizens felt they were free to speak their minds and the culture of fear was prevalent even in cyberspace. People trusted me and the Delphi hosts and I can say with some pride that nobody who has posted in any of my forums has ever had their details handed over to anyone. That's why the Delphi forum was a ground breaker and a great success.

More than 10 years has passed and there are now hundreds of sites where people can flame the govt. In fact, people actually have the balls to do it on the YPAP site without worrying about the consequences. :p

This forum no longer has a monopoly on anti PAP sentiment. I have kept it going just for old times sake. To be honest it isn't needed anymore. Like I said... it's here just for fun and I post a bit of nonsense here and there just to pass the time when I have nothing better to do. ;)

That brings back memories. Too bad YAP shut down their forum and did not choose to leave an archive for people to access. Many great discussions there which can help people understand many of the issues and problems of today. My nick is a carry over from the time when I was active there.

Tried to access the side since 1pm but somehow, cannot connect to it. Seems like MDA is sending out their IB to sabotage anti-govt forums.

WRONG !!!
There is NO Anti-government or Anti-singapore forums.

There is only Anti-PAP forums.

While PAP forms the present Singapore GOVERNMENT, but PAP itself is not Singapore GOVERNMENT !!!!!

Get this right.

Get this right.

A government is the organization which a political unit exercises its authority.
pap control entire govt. pap itself represent singapore govt.

anyway pap rule singapore since independence. constitution, national flag, anthem and language all decided by pap, almost non-existent oppo presence in parliament since 1968, we are de facto single party state.
to me, PAP = Singapore.

The email I got told me very little. It specifies a maintenance window rather than the actual outage duration. I receive many similar emails almost every other week. The actual downtime within the specified window often lasts just a few minutes and nobody even notices the interruption. In this instance, it took a bit longer but it's no big deal.

This forum isn't an essential service. I'm not a provider of a commodity or service which is a matter of life and death. It's just a place where people gather to have a bit of fun with a couple of fist fights thrown in for good measure. A bit of downtime won't harm a soul. In fact, it could well do some good.

Stop taking life so seriously. It's bad for the health. The Sinkie system seems to have put everyone on a short fuse. Singaporeans seem to be simply itching to dish out criticism at the slightest of opportunities. YOG is a perfect example. Vivian has put in a lot of time and effort to put Sinkieland on the world map and has received nothing but a roasting from just about every quarter. YOG is about youth getting together for some friendly competition. Sinkies should be happy to play host and get to know other cultures first hand. It'll bring considerable long term benefits to both the nation as a whole and the individuals involved.

I agree, a downtime can be good for people to cool off from the Internet and do meaningful stuff. I am not being too serious or anything, just providing my feedback. I am not whining in this case, my tone is not of a mad or angry person and not even close to flaming. Ultimately, you are the owner of this forum and you can do what you like.

Singaporeans are not angry that we are hosting the YOG, we know YOG can bring some tourism revenues, but it comes at a wrong time, when Singaporeans are finding their jobs being snatched by incompetent FTs and the elderly still struggling to make ends meet, whereas in other countries, they will be enjoying their golden age. Of course, it could be attributed to working for money, and not make money work for them. But PAP can be kind enough to dish out more money for welfare instead of paltry sums.

I pointed out to GMS that "soft coercion" was never an issue in the Singapore society. Singaporeans, young and old, were coerced in a certain stage of life, especially when schooling. But at least during the past, volunteers were treated finely. Now when you see the "dog" food of the volunteers, adding in poisoning cases and the maggots, that is what is making Singaporeans upset. Apparently, the benefits of YOG is not being trickled down to ordinary Singaporeans.

But yeah, I will heed your advice from now on.:)
