McDonald is claiming no intention for the soft toy set to represent the Chinese zodiac probably because it realised (or was advised) that the entire zodiac as a whole is haram (non-halal), not only the pig. If MUIS pursue the case, McDonald's halal certificate could be revoked for selling non-halal superstitious items.

The logic is very simple. A restaurant may sell only vegetarian food. There're no such things as non-halal vegetables as halal in diet concerns meat only. However, if the restaurant sells vegetarian food alluding to Buddhism, it can't be halal.
