A man was arrested on Tuesday December 26 in Marseille, suspected of having attacked a passerby with a knife in broad daylight. The events occurred around 3 p.m., along Avenue Schuman, in the 2nd arrondissement of the city.
The police were called upon to intervene after passers-by reported an individual behaving dangerously. The man had just attacked a person with a knife, shouting “Allah Akbar” according to two witnesses.
According to a police source, the suspect was arrested without causing any injuries. The threatened person had already left the scene when the police arrived. The police transported the accused to the Noailles police station to subject him to an alcohol test, but he failed to blow into the machine and was placed in police custody.
Contacted, the Marseille prosecutor’s office indicated to Le Figaro that the man was ultimately admitted to psychiatric care without consent, that is to say, forcibly interned.
