hokkien harbor was hooker haven, and still is today. only the beautiful found work as prostitiutes. the ugly remained virgins and was never paraded in the streets. they were hidden in villages and back alleys as no customer wanted them. this was why it was considered a beautiful city then when foreign sailors and merchants were looking for relief after being at sea for months without the comfort of abalones and squid. anything on land that moved with camel toes were considered "beautiful" and "nice". of course!
