Manchester United Season 2009-10

That Pool manager, whathisname, before Benitez, that .... Houtlier or something, bought Salif and Diouf before the 2002 World Cup. Even said.

..exactly the opposite in that he claims to train hard every day but happens to be the player who drops out of matches most often at the last minute? He should just keep his head down, train hard and look to get over his injury problems.
Speak of the devil, he's doubtful for this sat's biggie;)

...Rooney's ankle injury will be reassessed on Tuesday to determine his chances of playing in Saturday's derby game at Manchester City. Rio Ferdinand is also a doubt for the match at Eastlands after suffering a groin injury in the 0-0 draw at Blackburn on Sunday.

I knew that already. But he had better buckle down, otherwise he will always be a liability to Man Utd and England. He's becoming like another Ledley King.
Anyway, there's no biggies any more. :(

Ferdinand should keep his mouth shut on such matters.
Does he not realize that what he's saying about Tevez is an irony, since he is exactly the opposite in that he claims to train hard every day but happens to be the player who drops out of matches most often at the last minute?

My thots exactly. Stripped of the captaincy, injury prone and he even said that he would consider a move to La Liga. Spends most of his time mapping out his second career at the expense of the club. What would you do if u have an employee like him?

Ferguson picked up Rooney after Euro 2004 and Ronaldo after World Cup 2006. Wenger picked up Henry after World Cup 1998 and Ashravin after Euro 2008. There're many more examples of course. Too many to list all.

On the contrary, that's when managers are shown up - who is genius & who is run-of-the-mill.

When they wait till after the tournament to see who are the top stars, any tom/dick/harry fan can do that & besides the value of the stars would have sky-rocketed by then - how to get a good deal unless you are Man City or Real Madrid ?

The shrewd Managers made their move prior to the World Cup, getting better bargain before rather than after World Cup and also showing the world their judgment & eye for talent.

Its a mix bag. Alot depends on the selling club, player demand. Some players decide to sign on before major tournaments simply becos 1.They do not expect their national team to progress further than the preliminary rounds. 2.More players will be competing to move to bigger clubs using the tournament as a platform 3. Peace of mind. There is always a risk of serious injury.
Again, you have the selling clubs in the equation. Are they willing to sell or should they hold out for more money? Do we have able replacements? All these factors will figure out in the trade besides regulatory approval.

...................................................................................They play like kittens against Blackburn, lack height, lack tenacity, lack ideas. Berbatov is constantly fustrated, he does not like to get rough - and Blackburn plays rough. One comical scene, he was down covering his face, blackburn didn't kick ball out, and when Man U got the ball, they also didnt play the ball out, oblivious to him lying on the floor...

nani the prima donna cannot get a decent cross, if not, constantly shoot into legs...

with this finishing, how to win? They need someone of drogba calibre, who can bash....no one can bash then. Macheda looks like got potential but he off game so long....rusty

hopefully the new mexico tortilla can be better. This season gone liao...

Berba is farked! He didn't just disappoint but got on the nerves of the fans and players with his whinging. If Fergie plays Roon this Saturday, that will be the final nail to his short-lived career @ OT.

Nani is slowly improving but like you said he couldn't get one farking decent cross in all day. Form ok but I doubt if it will hold. Good for Man U if he performs. At least will have decent offers to cover the cost of acquiring him.

The Drog is on his way down. He is expected to feature less in league games as he becomes prone to injuries.

What we need are at least two creative midfielders on top of 2 decent strikers and a keeper. If reports are true that Fergie plans a summer swoop for Benzema and David Villa, there is more than a chance that Rooney will play the creative midfield role next season. He's got more football brains than all the players put together.

Well said. couldn't have said better myself ...
Now that Chelsea has open the gap to 4 points, can Man U still win the league given their 'famed experience during squeaky bums time' in the words of SAF.... LOL ! Not this time I gather ....

In fact, the Red Devils better maintain concentration.. for it will be the greatest injustice if they allow a Fabregas-less Arsenal grabbed 2nd place on last day of season !

It's not over, not by a long long way!!
Only 4 points behind with Man Utd can grab all 12 points
from their remaining 4 games,
in a season where the both Chelski and ArseWipe have lost and drawn unexpected games,
I won't give it up until someone smack my thick head
and tell me it's mathematically impossible.
Sir Alex will never allow his team, unlike Loserpool,
to give up despite the seemingly impossible situation.
If any case, Sir Alex will make sure Man Utd
finish second, above Arsewipe, for pride reasons.

We've played rubbish for the most part of the season and it doesn't really matter if Arse comes in second.Who would bother to remember runners-up, third or fourth placings??

Arrh... but this season is a special one..................NO CL for Pool:p All Man U fans will remember this.:D

much as I would like your optimism but I think Man U won't win it this year.

they will gain 2nd spot = automatic quali for CL.

looking at the fixtures - only Tottenham vs Chelsea represent any chance of Chelsea dropping points. Even then, they will still be 1 point ahead.

This weekend- Man City vs Man U - even if Rooney is playing, you reckon Man U will win? They will be lucky to get a draw.

Yah Liverpool is farked. They are farked since the beach-ball incident. I don't care about them.

According to reports, Berba's fate will be sealed today where Man U will have a closed-door meeting to decide the fates of players. A lot of work needs to be done - VDS, Scholes, Giggs, Neville needs replacement.

I think Fergie has no choice - a goalie is a must. Foster and Kukujeow are not cut out.

We need a lynchpin in midfield as well - Park runs alot like headless chicken. Even we keep Nani, on the fact that he has improved, the CMs need a kick up their ass. Carrick has for some reasons weakened. Heagraves can write off liao, only feasible is Fletcher. But Fletcher I look at him, still lack the bite that a DM need. He is a CM - decent passing but lack flair to act as the "brain" or "orchestrate" moves.

Valencia ok, i will keep. strikers - Macheda is potential. Owen is gone, Berba's star is fading - after dismal performance. He looks like on the way of Veron (30m flop). Seems that 30m in BPL is a jinxed figure. Veron 30m, Shevchenko 30m, Berba 30m. All flops.

Neville - shld go, i detest his gua lan look esp when he lose a player. Rafael is too young. I won't trust Brown. But I suppose this season SAF won't tinker his back 4 ...he has no funds. And I await to see Smalling. Hopefully next season Rafael will step up. Then we have an established back 4.

So i think - urgently needed - one striker (established) + one goalie

good spirit, wayne piew - never say die until die ...

gal lego99, it's true Liverpool is unprecedentedly bad this season, but likewise mightily glad MU won't win the record 19th EPL Title this season !

redamoeba - sharp of you to note the 30m pound jinx ! quite a major re-org of MU personnel you have described .... Owen Hargreeves the jinxed Englishman who should stick to playing in overseas league ... star of England's World Cup 2006, MU fought tooth&nail with Bayern Munich over him, finally got him after waiting for him for 2 seasons .... today like this .... what a tragedy...

Fair comment. Park's 2nd name is 2 lungs, but stamina can only do so much and see his headless chicken description sticks from few seasons back. Neville's past his shelf life liao. And Carrick's a softie (compared with likes of MC Hargreaves), even with his distribution on a good day.

Last sun's outing was lack lustre. Pick up the pieces for next season's challenge -with CL placing, more than we can say for some other clubs:p

Benzema may not want to move to OT as Pellegrini will be replaced. His star may just shine again if a new coach comes in and if Higuain refuses to extend his existing contract with REAL.

Fergie should just write off any possibility of Hargreaves making it back to top flight football. He ought to sign Mahmoud Diarra who would be more than an able defensive cover. If you dun have a hard man in midfield, you dun stand a chance of winning 50-50 balls.Currently, the only one capable of doing that is Fletcher but he looks so blardy vulnerable.

I think he does spend too much time on non-footballing matters.
But he was not stripped of the captaincy.
He is now England captain after John Terry was stripped of the captaincy.
He is still Man Utd captain when Neville and Giggs are not playing. Neville has always been the club captain and the first choice team captain.

The moment Fergie retires (which is this summer), Man U is not going to get any 50-50 decisions. Fletcher will be rendered useless as he cannot make stupid fouls anymore.

I did say before that when a club has 3 international goalkeepers and the best of the lot is the 40 year old, then there is looming trouble. VDS is still top class, but the next will be his last season and his LT replacement should be signed this off season. Players like Lloris, Cech, Reina, Casillas and Buffon are not going to be available, so they should look at players like Adler, Neur or Mandanda.

O'Shea should be a solid right back, he was badly missed this season. Evra is still top class, possibly the best LB in the world. If Ferdinand remains fit and Vidic stays, both of which are doubtful, they should be ok at CB with Smalling, Evans and Brown as cover.

They need a top midfield player, the only current reliable guy is Fletcher. He's not world class, but he's at least international class, and he gives 100% every game. His passing and crossing are also under-rated. Carrick has been a massive disappointment this season.

They also need another top class striker, especially since Berbatov is so unpopular and seems to have given up. Owen should stay, he has another season of a pay-as-you-play contract, and he will give good cover. He can leave on a free after next season. The wingers are ok in my opinion, Nani and Valencia will get better, they have been inconsistent but have also put in some very good performances. Park, Obertan and possibly Tosic can be back ups.

After Schemichel left, fergie went through turbulent years before landing VDS....if you look at the trend...Man U needs a goalie from Scandavania...so look in that direction...the curr Dutch keeper Sckenerberg or something?

Yes, they need a midfield hardman...a few years ago, they were outclassed against AC Milan becos they lack a hardman in midfield who can cut off attack (like Roy Keane). They now need another one of those kind. Diarra or someone else. Fletcher is not the hardman they shld be looking at.

Big priority yes, strikers & goalie. No more funds for midfielders liao...the debt hole is big..LOL...

Fergie gave Ferdinand the armband 4 seasons ago as he was a regular first eleven then. Neville had a long term injury. He's no longer the 'preferred' choice becos of his on and off injuries-balls ache, spine problem and all the crap.
Since then, they've rotated the captaincy among some of the players-Giggs,VDS and Evra for one.
Gary Neville made a meaningful return only this season and being a bootlicker that he is, it's not surprising that he got the captaincy back. At one point, I thot this idiot would never come back. If he were a TRUE Red Devil, he'd hang up his boots for good.

Precisely, becos it was 50-50, it went our way.If it were 49-51, no chance lar.

Are you referring to Neur from Shalke 04? I thot Sunderland's Craig Gordon should do well for Utd.
