SINGAPORE: A father of two has been charged with seven sexual offences, including three for statutory rape and four for indecent acts, with a then 13-year-old girl in 2007.

The man is claiming trial to all of them.

The offences allegedly occurred when the 45 year old was her martial arts coach.

Sordid details of their relationship were revealed on Wednesday at the start of his 10-day trial.

They cannot be named to avoid identifying the teenager.

Some of the details include how the two would address each other as "Lao Gong" and "Lao Po" which means "husband" and "wife" in Chinese.

Text messages, some of which were lengthy romantic poems, were also frequently exchanged between them.

Witnesses such as the girl's school counsellor spoke about how the girl, at the age of 12, was already sexually active with a 15-year-old boy and had at least four other relationships.

After a breakup and other issues like stress from studies, she was depressed and had attempted suicide.

Taking the stand on Wednesday, the school's principal said the relationship between the teenager and the instructor surfaced in 2007 after the school received a call from a man claiming to be a relative of one of the students in the martial arts club.

The caller revealed the teenager had blogged about her liking for the instructor and posted a picture of them online.

Fellow-students told the CCA teacher-in-charge that the pair would frequently have dinner at the coach's place, and when the coach sent the students home, the teenager would always be the last one to be dropped off.

The discipline mistress later discovered several intimate messages from "Lao Gong" sent to the girl.

The messages were later verified to be from the coach and the martial arts club was subsequently terminated.

The school counsellor testified on Wednesday that the teenager had admitted the couple had had sexual intercourse.

She had also shared that she had several relationships in the past and was seeing others while dating the coach.

The doctor who examined the teenager confirmed on Wednesday the girl had been involved in more than one sexual encounter.

SINGAPORE: To cover up his alleged illicit affair with his underage student, a martial arts instructor apparently told other students to lie to his wife for him.

The 45-year-old man faces three counts of statutory rape and four counts of indecent acts with a teenager when she was 13 years old in 2007.

Former students of his took the stand on Thursday in the High Court -- the second day of the trial -- to shed more details about the couple's relationship.

They cannot be named to protect the girl's identity.

One of the witnesses was the goddaughter of the man, who is a married father of two.

She told the court that before martial arts training one day, he had called her up and admitted he was in a relationship with a trainee who was only 13 years old.

He told her to keep it a secret.

He also asked another trainee to lie for him.

He wanted the male student, now 17 years old, to assure his wife that there was nothing between him and the girl.

Another student, now 19 years old, also testified that the girl admitted to her that she was in a relationship with the coach.

She said the "Master" treated the girl differently and, once, she chanced upon a photograph of the couple on the girl's hand phone.

The girl's 53-year-old mother, who worked as a KTV singer, also testified on Wednesday that she was shocked after hearing about the alleged relationship between her daughter and the coach.

She said she had divorced the girl's father, who worked in the United States as a businessman, when the girl was about three years old.

The mother added she was unaware of her daughter's past relationships or suicide attempt.

A psychiatrist who examined the girl also testified that the girl had confessed to having sex with the coach on three occasions but did not have negative feelings towards him.

The trial continues.

SINGAPORE: A martial arts coach had allegedly said he would get his 13-year-old student a supplementary credit card for shopping as he professed his love to her.

In the High Court on Friday, the trial of the man who allegedly had sex with his underage trainee in 2007 entered its third day.

The 45-year-old man, who is married with two young children, faces three charges of statutory rape and four charges of committing indecent acts on the girl.

They cannot be named to protect the girl's identity.

An investigating police officer, who took the stand, testified she had found chat messages that suggested the couple had an intimate relationship.

Nicknames were used, and there were exchanges between someone believed to be the coach telling the girl that he would get her a supplementary credit card for her shopping.

On Friday, the court heard that one of the chat exchanges included the line: "… hope you know how much your Lao Gong (husband) treasure Lao Po (wife)..."

The married man also dished out relationship advice to her.

He allegedly wrote that a relationship needed understanding, compromise and trust. And both parties would need to communicate more so they would understand each other better.

The girl, now 17, appeared in court on Friday to testify behind closed doors.

If convicted of statutory rape, the coach faces a jail term of between eight and 20 years and a minimum of 12 strokes of the cane for each charge.

For a first-time offender for the indecent act charge, he can be fined up to S$5,000 and/or a jail term of two years for each charge.

The trial continues.

Rape trial: Endearing messages from martial arts coach

FRAGMENTS of endearing messages were recovered from the computer and laptop seized from the homes of a martial arts instructor and the 16-year-old student he is alleged to have raped three years ago.

One specimen read: 'Hope you know how much lao gong treasure lao po.'

When the trial started on Wednesday, prosecutors said the couple even went to a temple to solemnise their 'marriage', and addressed each other as lao gong (husband in Mandarin) and lao po (wife).

Part of another message stated that their love will never fade as it was more than 100 per cent true, said an investigating officer on Friday.

Another promised: 'Reach (age of) 16...I get supplementary credit (card) for u so u can do some shopping also.' Then there was: 'Just wanna use this lifetime to lurve u.'

The instructor, now 45, faces three counts of statutory rape and four counts of sexual exploitation, allegedly committed between February and May 2007. He is denying the allegations.

The girl, now in Secondary 5 in the same school, testified in-camera on Friday. Earlier testimony revealed that the man, who was the coach of a martial arts club at a secondary school, had told two of his trainees to keep his relationship with the girl, a secret.

The girl's parents are divorced and her mother, a KTV singer, testified that she did not know of her daughter's affair. The girl had admitted to it to a school counsellor on May 11 2007.

She also said she had three boyfriends in 2006 and had had sex with one of them - a 15-year-old - from another school. And while she was 'wife' to the instructor in 2007, she was seeing two teenage boys on the side. The trial continues on Jan 17.

Accused rapist tells of controlling 'Tiger' wife

On trial for sex with girl, 13, he slams spouse and flatly denies all charges

THE 45-year-old martial arts instructor accused of having sex with his teenage student broke down on the stand on Tuesday, while talking about how his wife had controlled his life for 12 years.

He referred to his wife as 'Tiger' in his text messages to the alleged victim, and told the court he was allowed to visit his mother only once a fortnight and needed his wife's permission to make unscheduled visits. His wife also did not allow him to chat with other women.

The revelations came on the fifth day of his trial for statutory rape and sexual exploitation, as he was being cross-examined by the prosecution on the many text messages he had sent to the girl, now 16.

Earlier that day, he said his wife also limited his time on the computer.

He faces three counts of statutory rape and four counts of sexual exploitation, allegedly committed between February and May 2007, when the girl was 13 and in Secondary 1.

The accused, the girl and the witnesses were not named, as the court has barred the publication of information that could lead to the identification of the girl, who is now in Secondary 5.

Prosecutors alleged that the married father of two, who was then 41, had asked the then 13-year-old to be his girlfriend, and later had sex with her in his car.

NSF gets probation for sex with underage girl

ONE of a 13-year-old girl's multiple sex partners was given 15 months' supervised probation on Wednesday. Full-time national serviceman Loy Zhen Ge was a 17-year-old student when he had sex with the girl at her home in April 2008.

They had become acquainted through the Internet website Friendster the previous month, a Community Court heard. During the online chat, he learnt that the victim was 13. They exchanged phone numbers.

On April 9 that year, he met the victim near Bukit Batok. They then proceeded to her flat and had unprotected consensual sex. Nine days later, they again had sex at her home.

Loy, 19, who had pleaded guilty to two of three charges of having sex with the girl, is the seventh person to be dealt with for having sex with the victim.

Under the probation order, he was ordered to stay indoors from 10pm to 6am and do 100 hours of community service.

In July that year (2008), the girl, now 16, was warded in hospital following stomach pain and vomiting.

She was confirmed to be pregnant and subsequently told police that she had engaged in consensual sex with several males. The court heard that Loy was not the biological father of the foetus.

SINGAPORE: The wife of the martial arts instructor accused of raping a 13-year-old girl nearly four years ago painted a picture of a regimented life she imposed on her husband.

Taking the stand as a defence witness, she told the court that in their 12 years of marriage, she has never allowed him to go out at night without her permission.

His daily routine revolved around taking their son to and from school, going for his martial arts classes, and little else.

And even when he's at home, she would give him a tongue-lashing if he spent too much time chatting online or sending text messages.

The 45-year-old man, who teaches martial arts at a secondary school, faces three counts of statutory rape and four counts of sexual exploitation on the girl -- who is one of his trainees -- between February and May 2007.

He is said to have had sex with her in his car.

The court has banned the publication of any information that could lead to the identity of the alleged victim, now 16 years old and a Secondary Five student at the same school.

The instructor's wife also backed his claim that he was at home on the night of Feb 28, 2007.

He is alleged to have held the girl's hands, and hugged and kissed her on this date.

The man, who is denying all the charges, is relying on a training video shot by one of his trainees as his alibi.

The wife told the court she remembered distinctly that her husband showed her that video at home after dinner that day.

The court had heard earlier that the instructor found his wife to be very controlling, and that he had described her as "Tiger" to the alleged victim.

The trial continues.

Statutory rape carries a jail term of between eight and 20 years and at least 12 strokes of the cane.

Sexual exploitation carries a fine of up to S$5,000, or up to two years' jail, or both, for a first-time offender.

Youth gets probation for sex with minor

A YOUTH who had sex with a 13-year-old girl three years ago was placed on 15 months' probation on Wednesday. Mohamed Radhi Mohamed Kamis, 20, became the third person to have been given a shot at rehabilitation for having sex with the same girl.

The girl had told police that she had sex with several men when she was warded in hospital and found to be pregnant in July 2008. In all, she had sex with 15 men, some of whom have been convicted and jailed.

In the latest case, the court heard that Radhi became acquainted with the girl through the Internet chatroom alamak when he was a 17-year-old student. She told him she was either 13 or 14.

They exchanged telephone numbers and subsequently also started exchanging text messages.

The court heard that on March 14, 2008, Radhi met the girl at an MRT station and proceeded to her home where they had sex. A second similar charge was taken into consideration.

Community Court Judge Ng Peng Hong also ordered Radhi, a full-time national serviceman, to perform 100 hours of community work and remain indoors between 10pm and 6am. His parents signed a bond to ensure his good behaviour.

Supervised probation for 12th man who had sex with minor

A POLYTECHNIC student who had sex with a minor four years ago was placed on 15 months' supervised probation on Monday.

Jesper Lim Jun Hao, 20, was the 12th man to be brought to court for having sex with the girl, then 12, at her apartment in mid-2007.

A Community Court was told that the two came to know each other through a social networking internet website in June 2006. They did not interact with each other much then.

A year later, they got re-acquainted with each other online and started chatting. After about a week of chatting, they met at an MRT station.

Then they went to the victim's flat where they had sex. He was then 16.

The offence came to light after the girl was warded in hospital in July 2008 and found to be pregnant.

She subsequently terminated her pregnancy and also informed police that she had engaged in sex with several male persons.

Martial arts instructor gets jail for sex with girl, 13

A martial arts instructor, 46, who had sex with his then 13-year-old student was sentenced to 11 years' jail and 12 strokes of the cane on Monday.

In sentencing, Justice Lee Seiu Kin said he took into account that the girl was a willing party and that the accused was a much older man who was placed in a position of trust.

The married father of two, who cannot be named to protect the girl's identity, was convicted in May of three counts of statutory rape and four counts of sexual exploitation.

Although no violence was used, the man had abused his position and exploited the girl, said the judge in handing down a jail term of 10 years as well as four strokes of the cane on each of the statutory rape charges. On the four charges of sexual exploitation, Justice Lee handed down between six months to two years' jail.

He ordered the jail term for one charge of statutory rape to run consecutively with a one-year term for sexual exploitation, making a total of 11 years in jail.

The man has filed an appeal against his conviction and is out on bail pending the appeal hearing.
