The 'unknown' contact that had made the turnback has been confirmed as the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, a Malaysian media report has said.

New information released yesterday showed that as the flight reached waypoint Igari in the South China Sea and headed west, its transponder was still transmitting data, reported newspaper New Straits Times.

"The flight was still squawking as it made the turnback," a "highly-placed source" told the daily.

"The reason why we can safetly say that the unidentified contact was MH370 is because when it made that turnback, it was still squawking its IDENT number (MH370) and this was registered on the radar screen, meaning the radar was still on."

This data was then cross-checked with "other sensors" and analysed, the source added.

Mini radars placed along the route flown by the plane carrying 239 people were also checked, another source said, as there had also been reports of a low-flying aircraft by villagers in the east coast.

This data is consistent with the Malaysian Armed Forced statement on Wednesday that military radar had detected an unidentified civilian aircraft flying towards the Andaman Sea about 200km northwest of Penang.

The Boeing 777 flight lost radar contact with air traffic control at around 1.20am on March 8, about 50 minutes after taking off from Kuala Lumpur Internaitonal Airport for Beijing.

Malaysian officials said a blip was spotted at 2.15am over the Andaman Sea, 45 minutes after the flight made a turnback at waypoint Igari. But they could not confirm if it was MH370.

Malaysian authorities have not ruled out a hijacking, and were looking at sabotage, news wire reports said.

Quoting a report, New Straits Times said the military radar evidence suggested that the jetliner was deliberately flown across peninsula Malaysia towards the Andaman islands.

It added, quoting two sources, that investigators believed it was flight MH370 and that it was flown by someone with flight training, as the plane was following a route between navigational waypoints

wat the fark.. so the transponder is on or off? cheesepie lor... everyday change story.

Re: MALAYSIAN Airlines flight en route to China is STILL missing

Transponder code for hijacking is squawk 7700 and comm failure 7600. Nothing was sent out before transponder was switch off indicate the the event in the cockpit was sudden.

The pilot is quite a smart guy, lead the world on a merry go round.

Re: Backside bandit Anwar wants to probe KLIA bomoh!

Does not make sense for pilots to do it. In most suicide cases, it is a spur of the moment action. That is why when you can talk it out most suicides can be averted. It does not make sense that a pilot would fly till plane for hours till it runs out of fuel and crash as a way to suicide.

If pilot had a motive then with his experience and knowlege of exactly how much fuel the plane had (he did the flight check) he would likely have reached his target. Highly unlikley for him to run out of fuel in the middle of the ocean. Plane would likely have landed somewhere

Most likely it was a hijack where hijacker forced the pilot to fly to some destination even though there is not enough fuel.

IMO it is the RMAF that lead the world on a witch hunt. Probably they try to cover up their negligent with lies after lies until Loban pichak.

Their Air Force reply to the first enquiry by their govt to whether their radar spotted mh370 most probably was a definitive NO, even though the duty personnel were fully aware that they actually don't know because no one was monitoring. To say YES would tantamount to admitting that they had failed in their basic duty because no report was made nor fighter jets scrambled to intercept the unknown plane.

However, when they were pressed for raw data of the radar record, they have no choice but to admit that there was a plane crossing into their air space.

However, the attempt to coverup their negligence continued until other countries started showing records that confirmed the unknown plane was indeed mh370.

Moral of the story - in a crisis, never tell lie, say don't know when not sure. Had they just admitted that they don't know, the embarrassment would probably be contained within the agencies involved. However, with the silly first lie, the stupidity snowballed and have now caused immeasurable damage to the reputation of the country.

But Indon Air force also said nothing on their radar.

http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/...ot-detect-mh370-malacca-strait-air-force.html

In a development that could make the mystery surrounding the missing Malaysia Airlines plane more puzzling, the Indonesian Air Force has revealed that its radar in Sumatra, which is closest to Penang on the Malaysian Peninsula, did not detect any aircraft in the Malacca Strait area under its coverage, around the time Flight 370 was lost early last Saturday.

Hadi told The Jakarta Post that the Indonesian Air Force’s radar unit in Lhokseumawe, Aceh, did not detect the missing MH370 in the area where the Malaysian military suggested as being the plane’s last detected position around Penang waters.

“Our radar information has been shared with our Malaysian counterparts,” he said.

When asked if Lhokseumawe radar’s coverage had reached Penang, he only said that the radar had the capability to detect flying objects for up to 240 nautical miles, or about 445 kilometers.

A rough calculation using Google Earth shows that Lhokseumawe’s distance to Penang is about 300 kilometers, meaning that the radar could cover up to the Malaysian Peninsula.

Most probably the pilot has descended to a level that radar is not able to detect which is why some folks on the west coast off Malaysia saw a low flying plane.

However, at the point where the transponder was switched off and the changed in direction was made, RMAF's radar should still be able to capture the plane until it's level is too low to be detected. This is probably all in their raw data and it is too embarrassing to reveal because nothing was done by the RMAF especially when the plane is flying lower and lower like a 9/11 scenario.

Hmm...KL govt & UMNO are the mirror image of one another with the Singapore & PAP. Both are sinking in utter incompetency and epic failures of their institutions and security apparatus. Najib now joins LHL in being the laughing stock of the world.

Re: MALAYSIAN Airlines flight en route to China is STILL missing.

Video removed ...... they explain that intelsat that used for flight mobile phone ping the plane at 0815 am. since only one sat, the plane can be any point in a large circle, by deducting the plane speed and fuel, the part of circle in africa are removed, the one in malaysia are removed due to radar coverage, leaving two arc.

cnn editor post an interesting question, if he is going for suicide , why he not ditch the plane immediately, why wait 6 hours later.

my explanation is he is a flight fanatic. why not enjoy what he love most in his last hours. fly until there are no fuels left, glide for half and hour . perform a rare textbook landing on water. reach the deepest part of indian ocean so it cannot be found and damage that malaysia govt.
things that he done a thousand time on simulator, he want to do it for real. yes, the captain is the one and only person responsible. he is a muslim , malay and an opposition.
