MALAYSIAN Airlines flight en route to China is missing.

I no experience lah but watching tv had seen US coast guards helicopter finding fishermen in Baring Sea after their crab or fishing boat sunk in heavy weather with only reference point given by boat captain before boat sank. The MAS have the last position of the plane before its transponder fail, surely the MAS equipment is better that those fishing boat.

I am not familiar with where the aircraft went down, but in some parts of airspace there are no radar coverage because of distance. And oftentimes, the pilot needs to check in by some specific beacon

Anyone knows is m&ds pilot as glamorous as that of ang mo or sinkie pilot ? How much roughly are they paid ? I only know tiongs pilot are lowly paid and not a glamorous job in their country. By right all pilots should be equally glamour , all aircrafts has the same difficulty level in handling right ?

V simple. Ang Moh pilot usually SIA International Flight.

Sinkie Pilot: Ex-RSAF pilot who is not a scholar. Uusally flights to Asia, maybe Europe.

m&d Pilot: Not usually taken by SIA but by other airlines.

Can small flying stones from space puncture the skin of an aircraft? There seems to be more and more reports of meteorites nowadays. Can a 20-30cm undetected space stone be the killer?

What is the rationale that flying international should be more glamorous and paid more ? Is it more difficult ?

One of the passengers on board the missing Malaysia Airlines flight is a recent graduate of St Andrew's Junior College (SAJC).
Malaysian scholar Tony Tan Wei Chew, 19, was on the way to Beijing for a vacation with his parents, according to his former room-mate of two years and compatriot Aaron Quek. He has two younger siblings who were not on the flight, added Mr Quek, also 19.
Schoolmates said they last saw the Malaysian student on Monday when they went back to school to receive their A-level results.
Mr Quek, who attended SAJC with Mr Tan and shared a room in the school's hostel with him, said he was thinking of applying to universities in the United States.
Mr Tan came to Singapore on a scholarship when he was 15 and Mr Quek said they attended Catholic High School together.
There was still no confirmation on the location of flight MH370 as of 10pm on Saturday.

Malaysian customs and immigration big cockup. How can they let two stolen passports passengers up on the plane?

Crisis management situations are never easy but Malaysia Airlines have made this one f**king PR disaster.
Firstly they impose a media blackout of around 4 hours between when the plane lost radar contact and when they went public with the news. They argue that this was to engage all the relevant agencies and to establish the facts. This is BS.
Secondly, they let 2 passengers fly on false (stolen) passports
Thirdly, 24hours later, there is still no concrete news as to the whereabouts of the aircraft. The longer this continues, the more people will speculate about its fate (and the pain and suffering of friends and relatives of passengers goes on).

A complete and utter shambles.

I hope Vietnam is responsible for the investigation of this tragic accident and not Malaysia.

So this Cheebye Kia came to study for free with our money? Good that he's gone, he probably won't be coming back to serve that 'bond' in the first place.

viet military radar covers hundreds of nautical miles from the southern tip. it can detect low altitude too. pretty sophisticated. if the aircraft goes down rapidly, military radar can also picked that up (no pun intended). viet authorities will be reluctant to share details from military sources, but may oblige if push cums to shove.
