Voters remove indelible ink with grass
Hazlan Zakaria | 11:02AM May 5, 2013
Despite assurances by the Election Commission (EC) that the indelible ink it is using for GE13 is indeed indelible, voters across the nation are having no trouble removing them, some by merely rubbing their index finger with blades of grass.

Malaysiakini journalist Aidla Razak reported that voters in Penampang, Sabah, were able to remove the 'indelible' ink from their fingers using blades of grass as they walked out of their voting centre this morning.

That is not strictly correct.

Up till the issue of the writ election, it is perfectly legitimate to conduct and publish any poll.

After the writ has been issued, it is still legal to conduct polls. What is illegal is to publish the results as the PAP did in GE2011 and ST in the Punggol East BE. The PAP and more lately the opposition have been conducting such polls. The most recent pullout by SDP in the Punggol East BE was because of such a poll which showed clearly what would be the outcome. KJ is probably the only Opposition personality who does not use polls, preferring to count on his gut feel.

In Malaysia, as well as in USA, there is such a thing as exit poll and polls of all kinds are allowed. In Singapore, it's against the law.
So you know you're worse off than in China, where even photopraphers dare to go into the hospitals to take photos and videos and post to their blogs.

Several voters in Kulai and Klang have claimed that they cannot vote as some other people have done so in their names.

They are lodging complaints with the Election Commission (EC).

In Kulai, Chai Siew Pin, 42, arrived at the SJK(C) Batu polling station at about 10am and found that her name had already been used.

“I am waiting for the agents of political parties to help me. I will fight for my rights," Chua said when contacted.

She claimed that the EC officer then filled Form10 to ascertain her identity, but that she insisted on Form 11 - a declaration form to allow voting in the event of a dispute - be used instead.

“I am still awaiting the outcome,” Chua said.

Kulai DAP candidate Teo Nie Ching said she has received five to six similar complaints and that the voters are waiting for her at her service centre,

Teo, the incumbent Serdang MP, said Liew Ah Moy (above) went to SMK Kulai Besar at 10.30am, but that EC officers told her that she ‘has already voted’.

“When I checked Liew's fingers, there was no indelible ink mark,” Teo tweeted.

In Klang, PKR’s Dr Xavier Jeyakumar tweeted that two voters have protested because others had voted in their names.

“Use Form 11 and allow the genuine voter to vote,” Xavier tweeted.
