Obviously, one can conclude that despite Mr Li being a new citizen and living in Singapore for 17 years, he has problems understanding the situation. With or without Mr Low saying anything, as long as someone is publishing or posting articles accusing Singaporeans of xenophobia when all they want is for the Govt to limit the inflow of foreigners into their own country, he or she will be duly rebutted.

Mr Li doesn’t seem to understand that it’s the rights of citizens to defend their interests within their own country. There is nothing wrong about it. Unless of course, Mr Li did not think of himself as a Singaporean in the first place?

Don't bet on it that the PAP government will do anything. The PAP government has seen so many reports in the PAP Times of foreigners showing contempt for the country and sinkees (I am still fuming about the Pinoy Seagate engineer criticising sinkees and sinkapore and no follow up actions by Seagate or the sinkapore government) and have done nothing. It is a signal to foreigners that they are free to bully sinkees. Reminds me of that Bruce Lee movie whether he was the only one who stood up for the Chinese against the Japanese who were treating Chinese like dogs.

Though they return their prc passport when taking up sg citizenship, they still keep their 户籍 in their city or county. as a ex prc chap, he should know that even within china, each province places restrictions on pensions, housing, schooling etc on fellow prc chinese from other provinces to protect their limited resources.
