This episode illustrates clearly who belongs to the Singaporean Core and who does not.
Despite living here for 17 years, he still can't see it. To me Singapore Core refers to those Chinese whose parents, grandparents who immigrated to Singapore with nothing on their backs to escape the wars and hardships in China to build a new life here without looking back or ever making reservations to go back, come what may. Also includes our Indian bros who came over then in those turbulent years to open up the tin mines and rubber plantations. The new arrivals are not Singaporean Core because they are here to enjoy the fruits, leech on our system while the going is good, have homes in their own countries to run back to at the first sign of trouble here, keep their children from doing NS, and are never really serious about fighting alongside us when the chips are down.
In today's ST forum, a foreign Indian national wrote that she came here for a good education (see the self-serving interest right at the start? Not to contribute), and even got govt grants to subsidise her schooling, then said that she had to serve a bond becus of this, and wondered how she is going to do it if we are so xenophobic and whether her decision was right in the first place to come here. Can you see from here - that she grouched about a bond, while having received subsidised education, and feels that she thinks that Singaporeans have to guarantee a nice environment for her to serve out her bond?
Fucking Indian leech! The cheek! Like we owe them a living! And our elite govt made all this possible!
