Ankita Kumari, a Hindu victim of Love Jihad (or grooming jihad) from Dhumka in Jharkhand, has finally succumbed to her injuries after a battle of four days. The 12th grader was set ablaze by her Muslim neighbor, Shahrukh Hussain. Hussain had been harassing Ankita for over five years; this started when the girl was a child. He had repeatedly tried to lure her into a romantic relationship and was turned down every time. After multiple rejections, Hussain also managed to get her phone number from mutual connections and would call her to harass her. Due to his incessant harassment of her every time she was out on the street, Ankita had to stop going to school. The fact that the girl lived in an area with a dominant Muslim population further worsened her situation. When Ankita chastised Hussain for chasing her, his jihadist mindset was triggered, and he threatened to kill her.
At around 4 AM on August 23, Hussain poured gasoline on Ankita from her bedroom window and set her on fire. The girl woke up to find her body engulfed in flames. Her screams woke the entire family; she was rushed to Phoolo Jhano Medical College Hospital and then moved to a better facility. The doctors reported that she had sustained over 90% severe burns, and after an excruciating ordeal of 4-days, at 2:30 AM on Sunday, she passed away.
As she was dying, Ankita managed to state that Shahrukh Hussain had threatened to kill her just the night before. She had informed her father of the threat. Her father asked her to sleep, assuring her that he would do something about it the following day. “He should die the way I am dying today,” said the girl of Shahrukh before breathing her last.
Now, while the accused has been arrested, it is not inaccurate to state that the secular republic of India will handle him with kid gloves and look at him through the prism of mercy. The fact that he is a Muslim and punishing him will worsen India’s secular image will also favor the criminal.
Hindu girls getting killed by Muslim men – in the most barbaric way imaginable – has become an everyday occurrence in the Indian subcontinent.
An 18-year-old Hindu girl, Anjali Arya, went missing on August 3. A resident of Nainital, Uttarakhand, the girl had left the house for college and didn’t return. After an exhaustive investigation of 24 days, the Nainital police recovered her decomposed body from a jungle outside the town. The police have arrested her Muslim boyfriend, Yameen Ahmed, as an accused in this case. During the interrogation, Yameen confessed that he had killed Anjali by slitting her throat. Further investigations are underway.
It’s a well-established fact that the Muslim men in these cases have no fear of the law. They are confident that the feeble law enforcement agencies and liberal and pro-Islamic lobby in the judiciary will ensure they are not sentenced to severe punishment. Contrary to the hapless image of Indian Muslims created by rainbow journalists, they are the most privileged community in the country.
Back in April, the Supreme Court of India commuted the death sentence awarded to one Md Firoz to imprisonment for life, stating, “Every sinner has a future.” Md Firoz was convicted of raping and murdering a four-year-old in 2014.
In the infamous 2012 Delhi gang-rape case, all the living convicts except one were sentenced to death and hanged in March 2020. The one who was the most brutal of all was only sentenced to three years of jail time, followed by a sewing machine and cash reward upon release. That his name was Mohammed Afroz made it easier for him to evade the death sentence he rightfully deserved. He was also given a change of identity; with his new identity, he now works as a cook in some city in South India. His employers perhaps have no idea that he is the rapist who had shoved a rod into a woman’s private parts and pulled out her intestines. His new identity makes it easier for him to target his next victim.
The irony is that, while a hijab-clad Muslim girl flouting college rules mocked by a bunch of Hindu boys from afar is showered with international sympathy and acclamation, a Hindu girl’s ruthless killing by an Muslim youth is brilliantly swept under the rug by the mainstream media. India is living in dangerous times when some Muslims enjoy their right to rape and kill the “kafir” with absolute impunity, while internationally playing the victim of hate and bigotry.
