(Dora)

Tesla’s chief accounting officer will leave the post and the chief clerk will leave after only one month.

2018-09-08 00:00:28 Sina Auto

Tesla’s chief accounting officer, Dave Morton, resigned just one month after taking office. Affected by this news, Tesla's share price plummeted nearly 9%, the highest in two years. It is reported that Tesla Chief Personnel Officer Toledano will also leave.

kjUD-hivtsyi6349084.png

(Sina Auto News reported on September 8) According to Reuters, Tesla's chief accounting officer, Dave Morton, resigned just one month after taking office. Affected by this news, Tesla's share price plummeted nearly 9%, the highest in two years.
Morton said in the statement that the main reason for his resignation was that the public’s attention to Tesla and the speed of Tesla’s development exceeded his expectations. Tesla has been hurt in the past month by CEO Max, a high-profile 180-degree turn in privatization.
From August 7th, Musk announced his intention to privatize Tesla at a price of $420 per share. By August 25, Musk announced that he would abandon the plan to privatize the company because of shareholder opposition. The dramatic plan only lasted for 17 days before and after, and died in the fetus.
“Since I joined Tesla on August 6, the public’s attention to Tesla and the company’s growth rate exceeded my expectations, which made me have to reconsider my future.” Morton said. "(But) I want to emphasize that I am convinced of Tesla's mission and future development prospects. In addition, I have no objection to the Tesla leadership team and its financial results."
On August 31, according to Sina Auto's quote from Bloomberg, Tesla's chief personnel officer, Gabrielle Toledano, will also leave. The 51-year-old Toledano is the highest-ranking woman in Tesla. She reports directly to Musk and is one of the few executives at the shareholders meeting in June this year. But just after the shareholders meeting, Musk announced that it has laid off more than 3,000 people, about 9% of the total number of employees, hoping to improve profitability.
Tesla confirmed that she was on vacation, but did not explain the specific time she returned to work, nor did she explain whether Toledano was permanently resigned. However, it is reported that Toledano has confirmed that he will leave, but declined to comment further.
On September 7, Musk conducted a two-and-a-half-hour webcast with comedian Joe Rogan on social media, during which he smoked marijuana and whiskey. This video quickly spread on Instagram and other popular apps, and attracted a lot of attention.
Several Wall Street analysts have called on Tesla to appoint another executive, either to replace Musk as CEO or to provide more support as the company struggles to expand production and possibly raise more capital.
Joseph Spak, Capital Markets analyst at Royal Bank of Canada, wrote in a customer report: "Muske is very important to participate in corporate affairs, but now more than ever, Tesla needs a strong person. The operational background can help Tesla move from creative to executive."
James Albertine, an analyst at Consumer Edge, said: "We have been calling on a co-CEO or COO to assist Tesla in grooming the leadership structure and establishing Tesla's culture."
“Many people ask if Musk is still the best CEO of Tesla. Maybe he is the best chief marketing officer, and Tesla needs a strong new CEO.” NORD/LB analyst Frank Schwope said. "There are a lot of rumors and questions about Tesla, and we are skeptical about Tesla's stock."
The continued turmoil of high-level contingent talents is losing. <br /> Tesla’s management has been continually turbulent this year. On July 3, Dougfield, senior VP of Tesla Engineering and head of model3 production, who has been rumored for a long time, confirmed that he had left. Musk once gave Field a great appreciation and called him "one of the most talented engineering executives in the world." He is one of only four executives in the power of attorney signed by Tesla's latest shareholder.
On August 27th, Tesla confirmed that Sarah O' brien, vice president of corporate communications, will leave after two years of joining. O'Brien planned to leave a few months ago, and September 7 will be her last day at Tesla. It joined Tesla from Apple in 2016.
This year, Tesla's resignation also included ERicbranderiz, chief financial officer, susanrepo, vice president of finance, jonmcneill, president of global sales and services, diarmuido'connell, vice president of business development, and kurtkelty, director of battery technology. According to Sina Auto, as of now, Tesla has lost 13 top executives this year. (Dora)

Rolls-Royce

Rolls-Royce announced today that Giles Taylor, its design chief since 2012, has left the company "to pursue alternative business interests." His departure comes less than a month after the launch of the Cullinan, the first SUV from Rolls-Royce, and less than a year after the arrival of the new Phantom. Taylor's successor will be announced shortly, Rolls-Royce said in a brief statement.

A Conversation With the Man Who Shapes Rolls Royce

Taylor oversaw the design of the Phantom and Cullinen, two of the most important Rolls-Royce products out there today, as well as the Dawn convertible. He joined Rolls-Royce as lead exterior designer in 2011, so he played a role in the design of the Wraith coupe as well. It's not overstating things to say that the look of today's Rolls-Royce vehicles is Taylor's handiwork.
Departing so shortly after the Cullinan was launched is a little odd. Taylor played a big role as as a spokesperson for Rolls-Royce and its design, and if he had stayed with the company, he'd likely be central in promoting this new SUV. We are curious to see what's next for Taylor, and for the Rolls-Royce design department.

Ex-Rolls-Royce lead designer lands in Munich, working for FAW Group

Giles Taylor to lead design revival of luxury brand Hongqi

Jonathon Ramsey

Sep 9th 2018 at 9:01AM

hongqi-l9.jpg

Giles Taylor has moved to China, via Munich. That's what Rolls-Royce meant when it released a 52-word statement in June declaring that its former design chief was leaving "to pursue alternative business interests." In a six-year career at the UK carmaker, Taylor and his team gave us the Dawn convertible, second-generation Phantom, and Cullinan SUV. Now, China's FAW Group, one of the country's big three automakers, has announced that Taylor will assume the post of Global Vice President of Design and Chief Creative Officer for the group.

Taylor's specific focus will be on reviving the long-lost luxury fortunes of the Hongqi brand through "design strategies and unique style concepts." Hongqi, which means "Red Flag," is said to be China's oldest and most famous car brand. In 1958, FAW Group created the Hongqi limousine for Chairman Mao Zedong, and for a while after that only high-ranking officials had access to a Hongqi. The brand remained in production, although in decline, until 1981. FAW reestablished it in 1993 using the borrowed Lincoln Town Car platform.

Since Xu Liuping took over as chairman of FAW last year, he's made restoring the Hongqi brand, and taking it global, two of his prime objectives. Liuping wants to sell 300,000 units per year by 2025, a hundred-fold increase over current numbers. In April, Hongqi showed off the E-Jing GT concept at the Beijing Motor Show.

Taylor will remain in Munich, where he's spent a lot of time over the past few years as a high-ranking vassal of the BMW Group. There, he'll assemble a design team to launch an FAW Advanced Design Center to lead "the infusion of internationalized design philosophies into the complete range of FAW products including autonomous passenger cars." If Taylor was looking for a bigger challenge than keeping Rolls-Royce at the head of the pack – something we'd have to say he proved adept at – he's found it. Liuping wants to make his luxury division "a new noble brand - the best in China and famous around the world." Part of those plans, apparently, include a modern take on the CA770 (the CA770-inspired L9 is pictured above) developed with help from FAW-funded Chinese electric-car startup Byton.
