Looking For Good People

bro,
look no further. no one can convince you of what the world is made up of :D:D:D
Actually I think there is at least one good guy in this forum.
You haven't been posting much recently so I kinda forgot about you.
Happy New Year to you bro zhihau. :)

looking at something called life coaches (US terms).

in singapore, probably called mentoring,,,

there are always good and kind people. where to find them and when you do, will you treasure them.

one of the places to look is to volunteer yourself in services: visit the orphanage, visit the poor, maybe serve at the buddhist lodge or soup kitchen in churches. there'll find some kind souls that live to serve and help others, talk to them. if they qualify to your standard of being good, there you can have good friendship/mentorship.

That's a good idea, but while I think you will be able to find good people volunteering at such places, there will be some who will be there for their own reasons.
And I find it difficult to help others who may not be deserving of help.
Perhaps that's why I'm not a good person and need to find one. :)

heheh... happy new year to you too bro :)

Hence, you can say that I'm looking for a few good men (or women), not just as a potential counsellor, but also to convince me that the world is not just made up of horrible human beings.

Any suggestions?[/QUOTE]

to begin, ask yourself whether u r a good man or a horrible creature.

horrible creature would meet other horrible creatures. good shall meet good. it's the nature of things.

if horrible meets good, there is a invisible battle going on between the 2. if horrible wins, u get another good turning horrible and vice versa;)

Back to my original question, do you know of any good people, specifically anyone who will make a good and sincere counsellor?
Or is there anyone whom you would like to highlight as a truly good person, someone whom we can look up to or someone whom we should help if he or she needs it?

You have been banned (yet again) for another 7 days. Hopefully, you'll repent and your God will forgive you. :p

Well done, leongsam ! I almost choked when i read this.
How timely ! This sodomee is proselytizing yet again...

That's a good idea, but while I think you will be able to find good people volunteering at such places, :)

That's one POSITIVELY bad idea - Life coach, pui !

Beware all this new age US nonsense masquerading as life coach, success coach etc etc. Enough of Asiaworks, Life Spring & other pseudo self-awareness mumbo-jumbo courses & their 'coaches' ! You can google & see the harm they do .... the good ones are so rare u might as well forget about it !

Indeed I remember your nick from since long ago.

You may consider the following :-

What 're-alignment of values' are you aiming for ?

It is obvious there is something you are deeply unhappy about, something vague but you know it is there.

If you are thinking it require a certain 'counselling process' i.e. over time then it must be something quite sustained & deep-rooted.

So, it is clearly mightily important yet personal.

Trust issues come in.

But for something so important & precious for you to work out - who do really trust ?

Hence, your notion of looking for someone 'good' - however defined.

But seriously, wherever you look, close friends or not, close relatives or not, even flesh & blood or next of kin - at the end, to trust another is not just a matter of judgment but also a reflection of your inner value : do you trust, are you a trusting person ?

To simplify matters, then approach a total stranger - but a competent professional in the care business.

Try SOS (not necessary suicide then can approach them, maybe ask for referrals ?), or call Lion beFrienders hotline ?

Or read wisdom literature & heal thyself.

Just my 2 cents worth.

BTW, jw5, you are NOT alone.

Many others are also in your shoes, 'leading lives of quiet desperation', whistling in the dark & numbing themselves by going through the motions of life, rationalizing, justifying & shoulder-shrugging as they go along.

A "life coach" "success coach" or "career coach" is precisely the last thing I'm looking for.
If I wanted one of these, I would have been able to get one easily without asking here, for a huge fee and poor result of course.
As you rightly pointed out, it's important to find someone trustworthy. The problem is that I can't find that person. But don't worry too much about me, the fact that I'm here thinking and asking shows that I'm still thinking logically.

Hey, I found a good person.
Unfortunately, he's a fictional tv character.
Dr Mark Greene, ER doctor. Very sad to watch the episode where he died last night. It's been many years since the series ended, but it was the first time I watched this episode.
A good man, with flaws, who always did the best he could for his patients and family and friends.

Now seriously guys, can you name some good people in real life or do we have to rely on a tv character?

You mentioned the late Anthony Yeo, so how about a fellow professional like Dr Carol Balhetchet, director (Youth services), Spore Children Society? just my input.

There's another one always on Chinese radio 958, Dr Ang something, also in psycho-counselling line.

Thanks bro.
Doesn't have to be a counsellor, any good person whom you want to name is fine.
I think that we need to give genuinely good people more credit.
There are too many arseholes getting a lot of publicity in this world.

Most horrible monster of all time homo cheebyekia bapok Sim Kheng Hwee:

You stole temple donation money and the chief monk told you to fuck off!

You bashed your 80 y.o.father until bloody when he threw away your gay porn!

You called your mother LAUCHEEBYE when she reprimanded you for doing fuck all at home except prostituting yourself round-the-clock in cyberspace!

You also stole handphones and claimed that handphones waved at you!

You steal others forum password!

You tried to con a forummer's property!

You tried to con the same person to include your name in his will when he discovered you tried to con his property!

You cursed an old man at his death bed!

You tried to con laukwayboos but you end up only con some free makan!

You claim to be still a virgin but the truth is because you never use your lanjiao but enjoy having lanjiao!

You were exposed as a Changi Point bapok by respected forummers!

You bio young boys going home from school and masturbate while pretending to read newspaper!

You regularly make lewd prank calls to little children living in your block!

Hence, you can say that I'm looking for a few good men (or women), not just as a potential counsellor, but also to convince me that the world is not just made up of horrible human beings.

the world IS made up of horrible ppl, the sooner u can accept that, the better ... the secret is how to outfox these ppl - learn from your anti-hero LKY aka Machiavelli of modern day s'pore - see how he survives, no, wins ... then follow & learn ...

don't waste your $$ on counsellors, most of them are just doing a job, and while u relate your woes, they're glancing at their watches waiting for lunchtime or go-home time ...

u think they care abt u ? at their desks they're flipping thru travel brochures, planning their next vacation away from their boss & clients like u ...

take yr $$ - buy a copy of robert greene's 'The 48 Laws of Power' ... meanwhile see how yr dear PAP ministers/cronies enrich themselves @ expense of the average man-in-the-street -- and learn from them ... be like them and be a WINNER always ...

if u want to talk abt religion - then choose buddhism ... becos the 1st tenet of buddhism is - LIFE IS ALL ABOUT SUFFERING ... however the dharma will teach u how to cope with this suffering thru sheer hard work like self-control, change in mindset - to name a few techniques ...

those religions that tell u there is an omnipotent god up there willing to end all your problems with a wave of a wand like a fairy godmother, will only make u feel worse ... bcos there's no such thing ...

hope this helps ...

another suggestion jw5 - get a dog ... yep thats DOG, not GOD ...

then u will know what is unconditional love, and see the innocence/sweetness of pet animals ...

Bro Belle
Thanks for all your suggestions.
Actually, most of what you said, I already know. I don't really believe that a counsellor will really help either, and as I said a few times, pappies are ruled out by default.
What I'm more interested to find out now is whether there are any good people around. Perhaps you have some names?
