Now even tentage at east coast park also expensive
even the sentosa express for a short ride into the stupid island costs $4.

i walked b4. lots of Bangla and Pinoy along the pathway walk. They picnic there one.
There is free shuttle bus from the Transit Link Bus Terminus opposite Vivo City to the Sentosa Beach Station Bus Terminus.
Alternatively, SBS #123 is also available for normal fare commuting.
It's not free. It's $1 and it makes a long loop all the way to telok blangkah then back to opp vivo to go on sentosa bridge.
Swim over lah. Exercise as well. Wear skimpy bikini if possible.

I don't know which bus you'd taken, but there is indeed the free shuttle bus service. I had taken it myself last month.

Before the land reclaimation, we used to hire those speed boats from the Punggol end jetty to get to Coney Island and at the same time, water skiing. The beach at Coney Island then was crystal clear. You can even see sea cucumbers and sea horse at times, not to mention those king crabs.
my last cycling trip to Coney Island didn't leave me with good impression. The sea surrounding the small island full of rubbish floating around
