Police are looking for the man in the picture to "assist with investigations into" a case of loanshark harassment in Yishun Street 71 on Aug 20.

The man, believed to be in his late 20s, was last seen in a white shirt, white bermudas pants, white shoes, and carrying a blue sling bag, the police said in a statement today.

He is described as "of slim build with short black curly hair".

Anyone with information is requested to call the police hotline at 1800-255-0000, or to submit the information at www.police.gov.sg/CrimeStopper.

Man arrested for allegedly helping loansharks transfer funds


SINGAPORE - A 50-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly assisting loansharks with fund transfers.

The police found five Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards on him when he was arrested in a shopping centre along Upper Cross Street on Wednesday. He is believed to have used the cards to carry out the fund transfers.

Also seized from him were three mobile phones, several bank transaction receipts and slips of paper containing entries relating to loansharking activities.

Investigations against the suspect are ongoing. First-time offenders found guilty of assisting unlicensed moneylenders face a fine of between $30,000 and $300,000, a maximum jail term of four years and up to six strokes of the cane.

ATM vandalism case: Middle-aged suspect arrested

SINGAPORE: Police arrested a 42-year-old man on Wednesday (Oct 29) for his suspected involvement in a series of loanshark harassment cases.*

Between Oct 24 and 26, police received multiple reports of*Automated*Teller Machines (ATMs) found to have been splashed with paint. Debtors' notes, believed to be related to loanshark harassment, were found on the ATMs.*

Officers from the Bedok Police Division, Criminal Investigation Department and Police Intelligence Department conducted the investigations, and established the suspect's identity using footage from police cameras.*

Police arrested the suspect on Wednesday in an operation carried out in the vicinity of Syed Alwi Road. A mobile phone, a pair of gloves and a mask were seized as case exhibits during the operation.*

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is believed to be responsible for other loanshark harassment cases that targeted debtors' vehicles and residential units.*

The suspect will be charged in court on Friday. If found guilty, he can be jailed for up to five years, and/or be fined between S$5,000 and S$50,000. He could also face caning.*

Serial loanshark harasser arrested

SINGAPORE - The police have arrested a 39-year-old man for suspected involvement in a series of loanshark-related harassment cases which took place island-wide.

Multiple reports of loanshark harassment were lodged between Sept 24 and Oct 7 in the public housing estates at Jurong West, Toa Payoh, Woodlands, and Taman Jurong.

Officers conducted ground enquiries, obtained images of the suspect from various police cameras (PolCams) and town council cameras, and established the suspect's identity.

He was arrested on Nov 5 in the vicinity of Towner Road.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the 39-year-old suspect is a debtor-turned-harasser, who locked up the main gates of debtors' residences with bicycle locks and defaced walls with loanshark graffiti.

A mobile phone, a black sling bag, and the attire the suspect wore during the offence were seized upon his arrest.
First time offenders found guilty of loanshark harassment face an imprisonment term of up to 5 years, a fine between $5,000 and $50,000, and will also be liable to be caned between 3 and 6 strokes.
