Yeah i remember the Punggol 21 thing.... announced so long ago.... Even now Punggol has vast swathes of undeveloped land.

Considered in that context i think Iskandar has done a "Fantastic Job"

Medini's infrastructure is expected to be completed by end of this year. The catalyst projects in Medini like Legoland, Pinewood Iskandar Studios and Gleneagles are all expected to be in operation in 2012/2013. An updated brochure of Medini is expected to be published by end April.

A few here 'feels' that the progress of Iskandar Region is slow but it is in fact very fast considering an area so vast which is three times the size of Singapore.

Singapore announced the full development of Punggol from the estate area all the way to the beach with sea sports etc more than 12 years ago, the project was only revived recently and things are moving slowly.

We are bullish about its growth.

Agree with you Cathy

I'm bullish about the growth of Nusajaya and Iskandar. It is Not because I have no choice!

Obviously NusaJaya and therefore Iskandar as a city will develop and we will together reap the benefits.

Maybe its just me... but i get a sense the optimism and positive outlook of "Living in JB" seems to have suffered a dent in the recent days.

Dude its ok if issues are highlighted here in this forum. Dun worry. This is just one forum. There are several other forums on JB as well. Even if we dun raise issues otherforums will. So many forums abound.

The objective should never ever be to stop free speech (ofcourse no flaming allowed). Let forummers say what they wanna say, raise issues and be involved in a healthy engaging debate. That will bring more value and people will respect this thread more as it will be a great encyclopedia for those who wanna move to Jb. Like there was this time when i said Potholes abound and then Wuqi pointed out that the potholes had been patched up and I checked that and found it was true.

So this will prove to people that action is being taken.

Now regarding crime, the issue has been raised up and lots of ideas and suggestions on how to protect yourself. So it helps for everyone.

so dun worry. dun be downcast.

There are bright and sunnydays ahead for all of us.:):)

Ouch.... You mentioned Setia Tropika!!

HH security is actually top-notched compared to the rest of the tamans like Setia indah, setia tropika, Adda heights, etc. That is why u see so much more mercs and BMWs and even lambos parking safely outside units at The Gateway and the Golf.

Hope more people come to their sense and not even consider buying up units in places like permas, tampoi etc when there are an oasis here.

I also hope one robbery happens in HH so that everyone will sit up and take note that security CANNOT be taken for granted.

And we should not put down one another in ordered to raise thy own status. Instead, we should help each other along the way, and also be happy for each other's success. Only then we can all be truely successful.

Investor is an investor. The same as me. Not staying in a place we invest doesn't mean that it is not a place fit to live in. Or else we wouldn't have invested our hard earn money. The choice of occupation depends on circumstances. I am just lucky enough to have circumstances which permits the move. I don't have deep rooted ties and work commitments with irregular hours.

The whole place is infested with crime. Infact you can even see it happening in Bukit Indah, Nusajaya... being video taken and put up on You-tube. Not reported doesn't mean no crime at all. However, with Najib trying to lower crime rates by another 10% this year, it is only going to get better. But this doesn't mean that we let our guards down.

The whole place is coming up fine. Iskandar Malaysia Zone A, B, C, D and E. Infact I have just heard of another new project coming up in Zone E, near Skudai airport. You can do some reading up about it at the skyscrapercity.com forum. It contains very detailed discussion on Iskandar Malaysia and infact the whole of vision 2020.

People judge the success of a town, a county, a city, a state, a country as whole picture. The same as the old saying of Malaysia is not KL and KL is not Malaysia. Contrary to what all the property agents and developers would like us Singaporeans to believe, the whole idea of Iskandar Malaysia is not just about Nusajaya. Iskandar Malaysia Zone A, B, C, D and E actually complimented each other. And we should not put down one another in ordered to raise thy own status. Instead, we should help each other along the way, and also be happy for each other's success. Only then we can all be truely successful.

Hi Cathy,

Are you responding to my post, or are you just making some general comments? If you are responding to my post then you have completely missed my point.
I am not having an issue with people who invest here but do not live here - you seem to be driving at that point. I agree completely that different people have different circumstances and not everyone can or wish to live in JB cos' it is a matter of choice - that's a no brainer.

The point i am making is, we the ordinary folks need to demonstrate some mettle. Because there is always a good reason behind every crime incident. If one is easily scared off by some negative development then he will never make it in a new territory. I pointed out the Adda Heights break-in victim's neighbour who wanted to sell their house and move back to Singapore - i view that as too timid. So what matters to me is ordinary folks like you and me need to exhibit some courage and determination to fulfill a vision. I don't even care whether Najib wants to lower the crime by 10% or 20% - statistics mean nothing to me. It is the people that matters. Imagine each time a criminal tries to break-in to your house and he leaves with a broken nose. If criminal gets the impression it is risky to break into a particular vicinity i can tell you that will be alot more effective than government bullshit.

Also i hope the last paragraph of your post about people running down each other is not a respond to my post as i have not done that.

AP,

I agree with you completely, i am not against people discussing negative aspects or engaging in debate. NO issue at all - as you can see i love debating :)

Lemans, don't be affected by what I said. It is for the safety of those 'Living in JB' even though it will affect my investments.

Naysayers might think I'm saying that I'm not worried about my investments because I'm already stuck with the properties. For the benefit of this group of people, most of us here know that the last batch of EL's properties were sold out in 3 days at a price of around 10% higher than previous batch. Meaning that at present demand and my present investments, I can easily sell off my properties with a profit of RM500,000. I have a choice whether to sell now or not, my choice is to hold for long term as I'm bullish about the growth of Nusajaya and Iskandar. It is Not because I have no choice!

Investor,
No issue, i am just trying to preach to people it is ok to live here in selected developments and you will not get mugged the moment you step out of your house. Btw.. you cannot sell your property while it is under construction.

That further proves that I didn't even think of selling and thus didn't find out whether or not I can sell :)

Morning All, firstly, how do I do multiquote, I know if you click reply with quote like this post you get the quote of the post you're replying, if I would like to reply to several quotes in one post I would like to refer to that quote..... how is this done?

On a happier note ( I hope...) Marlborough College will begin operations by September 2012 according to their Principal Master Pick. Several International financial institution have expressed interest in it. This would mean that expat staff from these financial institutions would be putting their children in this College. The overall cost would be much cheaper than the International schools in Singapore, thereby encouraging these expat staff to put their children at Malborough College. Also taking into account that with MACS making cross border travel much more convienent and a more govt frienldly attitute to foreigners making Malaysia their residence, I would think that the investment outlook is still good eventhough there's the occassional hiccup, i.e. isolated cases of crime. Not to mention transport infrastructure are being put into place! The forummers here on both sides of the views are correct in their opinions. We shouldn't have blinkers on and pretend that everything is rosy, BUT at the same time should 'square-up our shoulders' and come up with solutions to the problems as several forummers have suggested though some suggestions may border on being very aggressive.....

To summarise:

Yes investment outlook is definitely good

Infrastructure atleast for private cars is definitely happening and reaching completion by mid next year.

Everything is not rosy yet everything is not all that bad.

Cathy,

The tuition teacher 1 who was teaching my kids Mandarin on Mon/Wed just stopped tuitions 2 days ago suddenly.

I managed to find another one starting next week on Mon and Wed.

Its always good to have 2. Dunno when one will back out!

Saw your roof tiles on the ground. Hope they repair it quickly. Will they not cry that it's act of God?
Good luck
You were quite right as they have claimed it to be an act of nature but also confirmed that this defect will be rectified for me as their goodwill. Very nice of EL customer service...

By the way, ICA first ask me to go find LTA next door. When I reach LTA next door, LTA told me to find ICA next door. I went back to ICA and ICA again told me to go LTA. What the? Typical Singapore red tape! They say cant trace. Ya right! Then u are wasting millions of dollar of tax payer monies! So fed up ! Wasted whole day making police report and going to the bank etc to check the serial number. Still got about S$150 inside.

some departments very pro at tai chi. am so sorry to hear about your plight. 150 bucks is alot for the cash card perhaps lesser amount next time? Mine usually doesn't exceed $30.
