My guess is earliest imposition of higher levy should be after the Danga Bay project by Temasek is mostly sold. Medini might be spared.
Not going to be so soon as this rumor has been around for almost a year already.

"Travel was an escape from the boredon of everyday life" - quoted from Oxford Advance Diictionary. Singaporean staying in JB are great traveller not a bunch of renegades. Pls do not misled by ODYSSDY. We need united for safety n pray nothing will happen. Will Security guard, cleaner, estate worker, contractors, postman be the "tour guide" for robber?
This rumour gets surfaced every now and then just like the 30k levy. I heard a different version from somebody that goes like this: Singaporean buying less one mil must get concession which is granted minimum after 6 months. What concession???
Attended the wedding of one of my staff today, interesting how they conduct this here. The neighbours are really helpful and cooperative, one house will host the speakers and emcee, the other for cooking, yet another for storage while their own one will be the one used for the groom and bride to be hosted. Really colourful and eye opener especially for the family. I have attended at least 11 weddings done in open area but it was a good cultural experience for them.
The beauty of kampong life and away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
Looks like you are soaking in the culture, bro.
Really envious!
Thank you sir, really appreciative of how they are.
Folks helping each other, we even thought that these must be relatives until we saw one house that is from a different race. All helping out and such a mix of races there eating and chatting.
Quite a few chaps did come to me, shook my hand and asked me who i was, i just said i was working in the same company as the bride.
Stay in Kampong Glam in the 70s when I am still a small boy. Friends will come to my shophouse and whistle for me to go out and play.
I still remember my mother bring a cane to look for me in the playground while I am busy catching tadpole.
My kids will not have this type of childhood. But can a community in gated community can create such environment?
Time to hunt for a land property......I guess.

There is an obscure wanton mee noodle store for those who are keen. Its at the other row of the S11 coffeeshop and near the other side and next to a bak kut teh place which isn't bad by the way. The wanton mee is pretty nice and is the thin noodle type. They have fried wanton as well.
What a heartwarming story, Wuqi. This is indeed what the Malays call semangat gotong-royong (the spirit of helping one another)
yes , used to be very nice with fatty char siew n QQ noodles but i noticed the char siew n noodles standard dropped as I asked e lady boss , she says ppl complained abt the fats in it ..... i just went there last sat while waiting for the car to be ready ...

As this couple of weeks is the Qing Ming period, i urge folks to buy your joss paper here. There is one shop in Perling, right besides Yews Cafe and they offer discounts for bulk purchases. Went to buy some yesterday and there was a chap who bought at least 1000 RM worth and got 6 cars there at one go.
They even have an Osim replica massage chair but i was told that there are no electricity down there. (Kudos to the first intrepid manufacturer to manufacture a power station or generator.
For those who have a different religion, think of visiting the graves or the columbarium as visiting an old folks in the old age home or visiting an orphanage. Unknown to my relatives and even my dad, i used to drive to visit my great grandfathers grave or my grandfathers one and just sat there talking to them.
The great grandfather i never met and the grand father i dearly missed. Never got a chance to prove to him that his "silly little boy" has grown up. I swore off beef from the day he passed on even though that was one of my favourite food. Been more than 16 years now. Though i still have a living grandmother, she basically hates my dad and scolds us every time we want to visit her even using dogs as an excuse for us not to visit.
Bought some extra stuff, for the aunt and uncle that i never got to see (they died at childbirth or still born) and for my son and daughter that didn't make it into this world. Drove in with a car full of stuff and accessories for them. The customs waved me through when they looked in the boxes and when one asked me one box with kids toys and accessories, i told her it was for my children.
She waved me on.
