Bullies are brave when in a group. I ambushed a bully in upper primary school while he was walking home alone, and he was beaten up so badly he never bothered me again. The others avoided me because they didn't want to be looking over their shoulder everyday after dismissal.

Samsters in our 50s or 60s will know what public caning in school means. We were brought up to fear authority, and that is why not many of us suffered from bullies. In my case, I reported them promptly, and even exacted my own vigilante revenge on 1 of them.
