As a leader and statesman, he has just committed a major faux-pas. I can imagine the MFA staff are probably getting ready excuses in case China files a protest. I cannot imagine what he was thinking when he decided to act as a stand up comic. He is a state leader for goodness sake. Perhaps he is trying too hard to be friendly with the Americans? I hope that this was actually written in his speech by his speech writers so he has an excuse to fire them.

If he is so miserable at being a statesman, I can only wonder if he is really running his cabinet.

I fail to see how Singapore could benefit from close relations to China, and vice versa. They are now competitors in many areas. All the better if the US could deal a major blow to the communist regime. A large domestic market with a diminished political will to enact protectionistic measures such as industrial subsidies, would be a boon to free trade advocates everywhere.

take for example..the 7 cooling measures reaping in and ripping us front and back on ABSD..
duties pay upfront to buy and additional duties pay after u sell within the five years rule..They take in billions in duties..

...HOW MUCH DID THEY GIVE YOUR CHILDREN BACK TO BUY THEIR FIRST HOME.??

Do they increase the housing grant to help us ease the burdern..???

Now, just this month u get your NS ang-pow $80..to $100 dollars..rite..for doing service in defending your country...well take out your calculator...this is year 2013.. u did your National service in1967. From then onwards we keep serving ..so it is some 46 years later did they realise u are entitle to some gifts...or recognition.. But if GDP blip upwards, they straight away pay obscene bonuses to themselves saying it is recognition of their good work..

This is also after some hue and cry that now our children are defending PR and foreigners rich assets here, the big houses and their cash stash here...
