You saw a shirt for $97.

You didn't have the cash, so you borrowed $50 from your mom and $50 from your dad = $100.

You bought the shirt and had $3 change.

You gave your dad $1 and your mom $1 and kept the other $1 for yourself.

Now you owe your mom $49 and your dad $49.

$49 + $49 = $98

+ your $1 = $99.

Where is the missing $1?

seems tricky, can you help to breakdown in your explanation later???

you are suppose to minus not add the one dollar you are holding

Agree!

u spent 97
returned 2 dollars to parents so u still outstanding debt of 98
the 1 dollar u hold is the difference

you are suppose to minus not add the one dollar you are holding

How much you owed and the cost of shirt are two separate calculations.

Shirt cost $97
You owed $98

This is not mathematics.

Another PAP no-brainer.
This is the same tactic used by PAP to confuse Sinkies on the difference between PAP and Singapore the country.

put in simplier. u keep the $3 change and pay back $100 together to your parents.

( 97 /2 = 48.5 each owning to parents ) + ( 3 /2 = 1.5 Each returning to parents )
= 50 each

resist buying an expensive shirt when you don't have the cash, in order that you don't end up in the debt predicament in the first place. a $9.7 shirt that is on sale will do. :D

97/2 = 48.5

48.5+1 = 49.5 each for papa and mama.

(49.5 X 2) + 1 = $100 lor...

Shirt cost $97 ($100-$3)
You borrow $1 more (You return $2 and borrow $1)
So you truly owe your parent $98 now instead of $97.

The parents are morons for lending $100 to their broke spoilt brat who wants to buy a $97 shirt.

Shirt cost $97 ($100-$3)
You borrow $1 more (You return $2 and borrow $1)
So you truly owe your parent $98 now instead of $97.

In business, you have to use the accounting ledgers to be clear of what is what. One is debited and the other is credited. Won't go wrong.

It's better to computerised it ?

Re: Accounting Format

Paying almost one hundred bucks for a shirt isn't very economical.

Even though you can solve this problem you aren't smart at all.

Me always lay long ones from dept stores.

this is a really stupid question. what does the $1 you gave yourself in terms of credit have to do with it? you owe your parents $98 and since you took $1, You owe $98-1=$97 still outstanding ie you still spend $97 is what the shirt costs and you still owe your parent $98($97 and $1 you took). it just stupid mind trick use by certain people to try and change credit to debit. only a fool would fall for such crap logic. also used by Xtians in their proselytising by making you think that you have sinned in the first place when you haven't sinned at all. and then try stupid guilt trips and offer pseudo salvation when you don't need it in the first place. I screwed up a Xtians when he told me such cr@p and I insists he is the sinful one and I am pure and don't need his cr@p logic. He should instead pay me monthly tithe for enlightening him :D
