Yes Nanyang school is there. This stall was founded by nanyang PE teacher many years ago. This teacher was from China but she was good at cooking.
 
Then there was Prince Restaurant at Selegie Complex.
 
used to enjoy fried chicken (or what was similar to popcorn chicken) at better batter in paragon decades ago.

The oldest and only known Nasi Padang restaurant , the Rendezvous Restaurant from the 50s

amazing food

in its place stands the Rendevouz hotel now , but it was a colonial building where the restaurant was , only ceiling fans , just across the Cathy building , always crowded
 
the Chatterbox, chicken rice from Mandarin Hotel

The history of Chatterbox really goes back to the sixties when the Mandarin Hotel just opened its doors.

The chicken Rice set was $4.50. think at Swee Kee around $1.50

hawker around at around $1or so

but had ate a few times and did not fancy that much
