LW said we have to be prepared to stay employed and work longer.

The next question sinkie should ask him before he can continue to talk cock is

Why do we have to be prepared to stay employed and work longer?

Then he will have to leeply

Becos our gov is useless and cause this problem.

Lets be frank here, IF you can retire at 65 years old ... go ahead & nobody stopping you.
Some people already retired at 40 years old, live frugal & spending time on their hobby
But in the case where the person is still physically strong and wish to continue working.
At the very least, his company cannot retrench him at 65 citing this is Govt regulation
The Govt is actually helping those people who wish to work & spare him of being let-go

Yes, they want you to continue to work and work so you can keep on enriching the gahment's CPF scheme. You die, your business.

This Govt is very good with numbers, they know the average mortality age is 85

Example only:
With a Retirement Account (RA) balance of $100,000 at age 65, you can expect an estimated monthly CPF LIFE payout ranging from $848 to $905. This estimate is based on the CPF LIFE Standard Plan.

For those Over-achiever:
With a Retirement Account (RA) balance of $500,000 at age 65, You can withdraw excess funds above your Full Retirement Sum (FRS) in your RA

IF want FULL AMOUNT withdrawal, the policyholder need to passed on ... but only his beneficiary gets to enjoy & he will receive in 3 weeks after Death Certificate issue.

We are in trouble when gov keep enhancing cpf scheme

They should allow us to use CPF funds to bet @ Singapore Pools using a secret code developed by @sbfuncle :frown:
Secret code is a thing of the past.
Now I'm researching on this unnatural da. Vinci code
When the numbers are formed up, I placed my bets.
Sg pool will close shop if pap allows sinkies to do that.
But As it is my fulltime job I have to keep a secret to it.

Generally, how much do people need to retire in Singapore?

The official retirement age in Singapore is 63 years old, and the average life expectancy is 83 years. For an average Singaporean, you will need to have enough retirement funds to last at least 20 years after retirement.

Experts estimated that retirees need approximately S$1.3 million for a comfortable lifestyle. With healthcare and housing costs projected to rise significantly, retirees may need between S$1,200 and S$3,500 per month to maintain a modest to comfortable lifestyle. Again, this is an estimate and the true amount will differ from individual to individual, and it's good to keep in mind that these values will also increase over time due to:

  • Rising prices and inflation, which diminish the value of your money
  • Increasing life expectancy, which means you are likely to need a bigger retirement sum
  • Healthcare costs with old age, including increasing health insurance premiums as you age

Income Replacement Ratio Method

This method recognises that most people will be spending less on certain expenses during retirement. As a guide, aim for two-thirds to three-quarters of your income to live comfortably.

Say you want to replace 75% of your current income. If you currently earn $48,000 per year, and your desired retirement age is 62:

  • Annual retirement income needed: 75% x $48,000 = $36,000
  • Years in retirement (life expectancy - retirement age): Men: 83 - 63 = 20; Women 88 - 63 = 25
  • Total retirement income needed: Men: $36,000 x 21 = $720,000; Women: $36,000 x 25 = $900,000
