STOMPer Miss Mallory saw this boy eating a cone of ice-cream right in front of the 'No eating and drinking' sign on board an MRT train yesterday(June 16).

This STOMPer feels that authorities must take immediate action as commuters are blatantly flouting rules nowadays.

Miss Mallory says:

"Yesterday, while I was on my way to Woodlands, I saw this 'brave' boy board the train at Toa Payoh MRT Station.

"He was enjoying his ice-cream right in front of the 'No food and drinks.Fine $500' sign.

"People seem to be getting more bold doing such things these days.

"What is SMRT doing?

"SMRT really needs to teach these people a lesson and stop giving them chances.

"Slap them with the $500 fine before they mess up the train one day."

It is upbringing & education, from within & without the family, that is lacking since the 1980's...when the man with the 'tancho hair' took over as the Minister of Education.

The Japanese are not that clean as we perceive them to be, I had worked with them...but as a whole, as in a society...certain things they do, without being told...that is upbringing & culture...

Sadly!...in SINgapore, in persuit of money & more money...nobody here cares anymore...

They even have a Bo Bo Tea Stall just outside the exit gates, towards the escalator going into Plaza Singapure ( or PS), and a stall selling chicken rice, duck rice & snacks, just after the exit gates at Harbourfront MRT station...

& there is a sign that says, no eating or drinking in the.....

So, up to you to judge or decide...are they encouraging eating or enforcing the rules...or MONEY speak the loudest..making money that is...

either way one pay...you but food & drinks, you pay..if they decide to enforce the rules....and catches you eating & drinking...YOU PAY also!.

so either each way...you PAY!.

You are right, the only train that i know of that you can eat is the Shinkansen and even that is mainly on trays and is cleaned up after that.

yes, using cell phone is not allow in local trains , since when i said its allowed ? as for food , open your eye while when you are in japan ... . only during rush hour ( morning ) , japanese dont eat breadfast in train because they rather eat at home . but they do snack inside train after morning rush hours.


by the way , have you ever been on a bullet train ? why is there a cabin selling food in bullet train ?
