I really think the safe deposit box is a big red herring. It has sent the media circus into a frenzy.

My hunch is that the old man had a lot of referrals from Iskandar to his motor repair business. Iskandar got indebted, went to seek a loan which he was refused probably. Old man got junior there to protect him in case there was violence. Maybe a struggle occurred, weapons used and then the Old and young men got injured/died with iskandar fleeing thescene.

He should have reported the incident and surrendered. Then he would be charged for culpable homicide, but now he may be charged for murder.

At about 6 pm as I was leaving the National Sailing Club at East Coast, I saw a prison bus parked nearby the club and there were many policemen milling around in the club's compound and surrounding area.

I think they brought the accused there to recover the murder weapon.

I dont think that car workshop owner is an angel either.. he might be an ah long and iskandar may have borrowed money from him n when he cant settled his debts, he asked iskandar to be his runner or risk getting reported to his superior and thats where the fight broke off that leads to the murder...

Police officers should know and if they are too stupid and ignorant, should be taught, that they should not put themselves in a position where their integrity as a police officer could be compromised.

That would include getting themselves into heavy debt or getting freebies from nightspot operators.

This basic concept of ethical behaviour in public service is especially pertinent to those public servants who deal with law, order and justice.

Divorce shouldn't lead him to indebtedness. For a straight forward divorce it shouldn't cost him more than $5000 for legal fee and as a police sergeant how much alimony does he need to pay to support his ex-wife.

I heard from a senior immigration officer who is hooked on jackpot machines at the MBS that this Iskandar chap is also a regular there.

SINGAPORE - It was an emotional farewell for Kovan double murder victims Tan Boon Sin and Tan Chee Heong as over 100 friends and family members said their last goodbyes at the Mandai Crematorium on Tuesday.

Earlier in the day, family and friends were at the Teochew funeral parlour to take part in the funeral rites where Mr Tan Chee Heong's uncle, Mr Ong Boon Kok, spoke about his nephew.

"He was very introverted but very steady, and he treated people very well. He cared for his family, he loved his children, his wife, and he was a very filial son."

On the afternoon of July 10, the body of 66-year-old Tan Boon Sin, and that of his older son, 42-year-old Tan Chee Heong, were found about one kilometre apart.

The elder Mr Tan's body was discovered in his home and his son's body was outside Kovan MRT station.

A senior staff sergeant of the Singapore Police Force, 34-year-old Iskandar Bin Rahmat, was charged on Monday morning for the murders.

Mr Ong said: "Whether we see the suspect's face in person or in the newspapers makes no difference because he is still a murderer.

"We hope the truth will come out because we too are not sure what actually happened that day.

"So we hope the police will solve the case as soon as possible and find the real murderer so justice can prevail.

If found guilty, Iskandar faces the death penalty.

Maybe iskandar found out what the older Tan kept in his safe box was not lawfully acquired, so he was helping Tan to launder the money or extorting him over it and the deal went sour?

I am guessing something simpler.

Elder Tan and Iskandar become friends after the case of his safebox theft. During the investigation Iskandar got to know about the safebox and the other information about the valuables Elder Tan kept at home. Elder Tan lended Iskandar various amount of monies before (maybe a few thousand) to help him out. On the day of murder Iskandar probably went there again to ask for more loan and was rejected by Elder Tan. Either that or he simply went there trying to steal from the house. Could be a housebreaking attempt gone array.

The total number of jackpot machines in the various safra, NTUC clubs etc. is more than that in mbs. Yet there is absolutely no control over these mini casinos easily found in heartland.
