I'm curious what is cause of his money woes. If due to medical bills, then will look even worse on pappies.

It will look bad for the PAP . This guy is supposed to be a model malay working for the gov't.
Why does a well paid gov't official need money

If it is to pay for medical bills or to gambling it raises questions about the gov't.

Gambling can be a big problem & that's why it's supposed to be regulated. Are police officers even allowed to go to the casinos

There is no info yet on why he needed the money. Was he planning to upgrade to a car, having trouble paying for his home, had medical bills, had gambling debts,...?

My speculation SSgt became friends with victims after a unrelated case.
SSgt became customer by buying Vespa motor on hire purchase from victim's shop.
SSgt heavily in debt Kena sued bankrupt....action initiated by victim's shop.
Felt betrayed as treated victims as friends....Went to reason with victims.....went berserk
