This omission could have been made to avoid causing more pain to the parents. Sadly, in so doing, it gives the impression that the driver got off lightly.

Also, given the driver's age, a 5-year ban is effectively a life ban because he needs start from scratch when the ban period is over, i.e. he will have to take all the theory and practical tests.

you do not need to see the sketch of the site of accident & have a rocket scientist qualification to deduce what could have happened, the driver was at fault, the two KIDS on a bicycle ( no one mentioned this), speeding in a straight line trying to beat the lights, hurrying home, for mum, going to work...the cement mixer is a huge machine & noisy too...unless one is partially blind & deaf, you could not miss it...

You are right, to throw the blame on the kids causing their own demise..stick on the driver, who unfortunately was in a big hurry too...

The question was if anything else contributed to the tragic events. The news report did not refer to whether the judge felt that the boys' actions played a part in the accident but we do know that they were cycling across a pedestrian (not bicycle) crossing which in itself was illegal, even if the traffic police appear to have shut both eyes on enforcement.

Not that I am so bad heart with no feelings for a lost ones...I feel that, the press is not fair towards the driver. he is in the wrong, but the blame, does not fall on him alone...it was an incident waiting to happen...& part of it due to incompetent planning...please note that after this had happened, some people's children died, they started looking into road safety around that area, especially it involves heavy vehicle...haven't this repeated itself so many times? not necessary people's dying...it takes a couple of drunk Indians...to change certain laws!!...what had they been doing all the while?? isn't that, an incident waiting to happen too?, the residents there had been complaining for ages..
