Why was the floating restaurant going into the South China Sea? I was on a cruise on the South China Sea, the sea waters get rough occasionally and walking along corridors and on the staircase was quite the dizzy experience.

My uncle leemember his maiden trip to hk consists of a few fix guided tour.

Yeah its for insurance money for sure. Which moron tow this restaurant across the south china sea. Its too top heavy and not stable in rough seas. Donkey years ago one Hawaii chinese business man took the same concept to Honolulu. If u go to honolulu today, u can see it as the Pagoda floating restaurant. Basically, it was a barge build by the same company that build Jumbo and they towed it across the pacific ocean without the superstructure. then once in hawaii, they put it to gether. The barge had a low profile and obviously made it across the ocean.
Could be done on purpose. By it sinking it becomes a write off n no need to worry about refurbishment etc...it has become such a hot potato n soo many buyers rejected it..also repair more expensive than demolishment..n it sunk below 1km...so save on salvage fees. N might even get insurance payout
