Because in John 17:3 Jesus says:

"Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the ONLY true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent."

You understand the meaning of ONLY and SENT?

There can be only one way to understand 17:3.

THE ONLY TRUE GOD!

To spin it any other way digs yourself deeper into the hole, eg like how he tried to explain the each god acknowledges the divinity of the other.
Now not only it contradicts 17:3, it opens a can of worms that now there are 3 gods. Polytheism?
