: “The HSBC Rain Vortex Light & Sound show has always been one of my favourite highlights at Jewel and I remembered it was always crowded and lively just before the show starts. The sense of wonderment of the crowd was palpable. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the HSBC Rain Vortex Light & Sound show has been suspended and the crowds have thinned. This photo, taken during Jewel’s opening week in April 2019, is my hope for both Jewel and our country to emerge from this challenge brighter and better than before.

Jewel is the gateway to our heart’s desires - Travel. Jewel brings Singapore to the world and the world to Singapore. It marks the beginning of our long-awaited travels where we board the plane to our dream destinations. Together with the rest of Changi Airport, Jewel is a place where delightful memories are ready to be made. This is where everyone leaves excited and returns fulfilled.”

: “Since Jewel's opening in April 2019, there have been countless photos of the stunning interior. However, I felt that Jewel’s exterior was a field less explored and worth showcasing too. It was proven correct when I took a zoom lens and studied the facade up close, the geometry, style, and curves of the building were breath-taking. If Jewel was already captivating from this angle, imagine how stunning it would be from an ariel view. That would truly be a sight to behold.

As a Singaporean, I find that Jewel is an excellent epitome of our country’s existence. Jewel shines brightly, just as Singapore shines brightly as a little red dot in the heart of Southeast Asia. Our Jewel is a gem that beams with peerless brilliance.”

: "I actually came up with this photo idea when I was filming a TikTok tutorial! I wanted to demonstrate to viewers how they could use leading lines in their photos, and this spot in Jewel is the perfect example for that! The tiles on the top level of Jewel came together to point towards the HSBC Rain Vortex, and I asked a friend to stand in the middle for scale, to show how magnificent the architecture of Jewel is.

I love visiting Jewel as it is a location that always comes up during conversations with fellow photographers from other countries. Jewel is also a place that I can always count on to get good photos, food, and an amazing experience right in our backyard!"

: “Jewel is my favourite place to hang out every weekend and as I admire the HSBC Rain Vortex every week, I came to the realisation that Jewel's unique architecture and design will result in light rays casting shadows on the ground at specific timings.

In this photo, I managed to capture the beautiful pattern that forms when rays from the setting sun shine through the facade and filter through the HSBC Rain Vortex. All these, and with the jewel of my life right in the centre of the photo. Jewel is both our favourite place and I actually proposed to my fiancée at Jewel because of this reason!”

: “When I visited Jewel last Christmas, the huge Christmas tree has always felt iconic and special, so I wanted to capture it from a unique yet relatable perspective. As the escalators lead us to the magnificent sight of the Christmas tree, I used the handles as leading lines to frame the shot and pull the viewer’s attention to the star of the mall, and the iconic jewel facade right above it. Jewel always has the power to magically transport us to a different season and lift our moods, whilst being in Singapore!”

: “天生我才必有用 - Everyone is a jewel in their own special way!

I was preparing to shoot at this spot when this gentlemen came into the picture. His facial expression inspired me to take this shot as he appeared to be a little tired (believed he just ended work) and was checking his bag to make sure he has everything with him. This is something I believe everyone goes through on a daily basis.

With this photo, I wish to express that your hard work and your tiredness may not be seen by all but be assured that there is always someone out there that realise and appreciate your effort.”

- : “This photo stemmed from a wonderful discovery as I had originally planned to capture a symmetrical shot of the HSBC Rain Vortex Light & Sound show, and was instead pleasantly surprised when I discovered the patterns on the ground created by the shadows of the people gathered.

This photo was taken before the COVD-19 pandemic, and while it has been fun taking photos of Jewel with not much crowd, I'm definitely looking forward to the time when the airport comes alive again."

: "I still vividly remember the first time I saw the Crystal Clouds at Jewel and these left me in awe. It seemed straight out of a fairytale, which reminded me of my daughter, Daphne. She loves fairy tales, hence I have made her the fairy in her own story through this photo. Furthermore, I would like to encapsulate the great minds of the architects and engineers who built this impressive building. To me, Jewel is where I love to bond with my family over food, entertainment, and play. Jewel is a place where we created some of our most wonderful moments together as a family—memories that will last a lifetime."

The warm subtle colours that perfectly accentuated the scene, where the lines and curves enhanced the composition and framing of the photo. Through this photo, I wanted to convey the message of how we should all just enjoy and appreciate the journey while enroute to the end goal. This was how this photo was taken when I was walking to Jewel one evening."
