Re: Community Alerts app

i hope those involved in the riot will be harshly punished to serve as a stern warning to those who are creating trouble in SG.

Malaysia has it fair share of demonstrations but not riots like this one in Spore.. Think the last one is in 1969. The ugliest one was 2 years ago where demonstraters overturned a police patrol car but that was to save someone who was trapped under the car during an accident.
The FRU which is the specialised riot police force is very well prepared for these trouble makers.
They often deploy very brutal and swift ways of ending riots. Fortunately I think there are no cases of any rioters dying from those manhandling, beating, dragging from the streets, pepper spray of water cannons or even tear gas.
Rioters will think twice of ever doing it again in KL. Punishment is one thing but the root causes must be studied properly.

My colleague from Indian told me that is how they behave back home so it appears to me that this has more to do with the culture and way of handling matters – maybe the police force in india is incompetent and slow to react so the public has to take things in their own hands and act first, talk later. but clearly this is endangering the safety of residents in Spore (citizens and also SPR foreigners like myself). While I agree these fw should be treated humanely and be paid a fair wage for their work, they need to be shown who is the boss here and that they cannot simply act as they wish. Therefore I hope the punishment will be harsh to deter potential rioters from engaging in such undesirable activities

Re: Community Alerts app

More news, so it appears riots can happen anywhere and no country is immune to it.

The pictures were shocking to say the least and we called our friends and family there to made
sure no one went to Serangoon.

This is definitely a big blow to P**'s pride and pro-foreigners policies.

The Home Team will be recruiting more people soon.

The videos speak for themselves, some of the links that folks has sent me have been deleted or made private so watch while you can.
I hope that this finally makes them wake up. That said however, they did clean things up quickly in 1 hour so kudos to them.

Sometime back folks recommended me this for kids in JB, i think we can use this now in large parts of Geylang and Serangoon.

The rise of Iskandar is partly attributed to the problems in Singapore.

With problems like this back home, it is difficult to imagine how 6.9 mil can be managed, with bulk of the increase coming from foreign workers, PRs and new citizens.

Politics aside, i seriously think anti-riot gear should be fitted to patrol cars going to riots if they want to continue growing the population.
There should be some kind of quick snap or quick deployment to patrol cars going onsite. Maybe armouring the cars and also putting
security solar film on their cars may help.

I know some of us including myself said this "Shutting out the third world is already useless as the third world is already upon us."

Something like this would help

They always wait for things like tat to happen. Then they start having brain storming session..:rolleyes:

As long as things don't become like that, then it should still be manageable.

Surely they will do that , not to worry . Most likely they will increase a big buget to tackle these issues and tax on the citizen for it ! The question is the tax should come from the foreigners instead of taxing us for all these shits ?

We need them to make the appropriate changes and stick spurs into their own hide as well since this was what they decided/wanted. I just hope that this is not a foreshadow of things to come. I deeply respect others lands when i stay there, but looks like certain folks are just taking Singapore for granted by taking law into their own hands. It was a miracle no one was killed as compared to the 1969 ones where 4 were killed and 80 casualties.

Yes there were riots in Singapore prior to this, even in 1969:

The list of riots in Singapore is a list of riots which happened in Singapore.
December 11, 1950 - Maria Hertogh riots
May 13, 1954 - 1954 National Service Riots
May 12, 1955 - Hock Lee Bus Riots
1956 - Chinese middle schools riots
July 21, 1964 - 1964 Race Riots
1969 - 1969 Race Riots of Singapore - The seven days of communal riots resulted in the final toll of 4 dead and 80 wounded
December 8, 2013 - 2013 Little India Riots[1] [2]

No matter our political inclinations, we should stand together with our boys in blue if things continues to get worse. The way i see it, they will be heavily taxed if things continue like that. Traditional methods of punishment which may seem heavy or harsh to us may be par for the course for others who may see themselves as having nothing to lose in the first place.

More pictures, we should not allow people to torch government vehicles and i saw from some of the pictures, cars belonging to innocent parties were also pushed and burned as well. Anyone who knows the culprits involved should inform the police immediately. Whether foreign or local, we should do our part to help keep the streets safe:

POLICE CONTACT | Emergencies 999 | Police Hotline 1800 - 255 0000 | Traffic Hotline 6 547 0000 | Feedback 1800 - 358 0000
