JP Morgan Chase, the largest bank in the US, is under investigation over currency trading.

Is there going to be a potential currency crisis shd JPM be found guilty and other banks are implicated too?

Last year Temasek Holdings bought 10% of JPM for US$500m. Are we looking at a big potential loss for Temasek for this bad investment?

Crook catching the crook.

I have a friend who told me that it is illegal for airline to gang up and play with freight rates. But unknown to him, it is just normal for them to play with such rates as long as you are not found out. He keep saying that the airline will suffer if being found out.

But my question is , if airline don't manupulate the rates and collude with one another, who can make profit in a perfectly competitive markets ?

ya, i heard of this before too. SIA is the main culprit. the pple there are very snobbish.

agree that many banks, airlines, petrol companies, businesses are crooks. Banks are investigated for illegal currency trading, collateralised debt obligation, airlines were fined for illegal price fixing, petrol companies such as Shell, SPC, Caltex should also be charged for price fixing.

When Brent crude oil was US$110 a barrel two months ago, petrol was S$2.21. Today, brent is US$ 85 per barrel and petrol is S$2.11. This is cartel price fixing by the petrol companies at the expense of drivers. PAP and CASE have kept quiet on this.

Banks, airlines, businesses have been greedy

reminds me when the MIWs made mistakes and all were wiped off on sinkies' expense...

Temasek is in it for the long term so these short term hiccups are of no consequence.

Ho Ching has the skill and foresight to handle such minor issues.

(Reuters) - Singapore state investor Temasek sold its stake in British bank Barclays several months ago at a big loss, people familiar with the matter said on Wednesday.

After spending over 1 billion pounds on shares in Britain's second-biggest bank in the last two years, unlisted Temasek may have lost over 800 million pounds on the investment, according to calculations by Reuters.

Temasek's loss is in sharp contrast to Abu Dhabi which sold more than 11 percent of the bank's shares on Tuesday, making a $2.5 billion (1.5 billion pound) profit in just seven months."

It's all part and parcel of the overall long term strategy. The fact that Temasek has outperformed Warren Buffet proves what an astute investor Ho Ching is.
