LKY's latest speech is again proof that his mindset has not changed at all even with the poor results at the last GE which in large part was due to people's unhappiness with too many foreign workers around. So it would only be foolish for us to expect the PAP to make any REAL changes to this migrant policy. As far as LKY is concerned, it wasn't the PAP who had a mistake in opening the floodgates for foreigners but that the people do not understand. He will never be wrong. It will always be the people that would be wrong. With that kind of mindset, how would he ever change any of his policies? Let me tell you what he said in his book, Hard Truths. He recounted the French experience and politics. Sarkozy also told his people to accept more immigrants or there will be no growth and no jobs. The French people told him, we want our jobs, we don't want immigrants taking away our jobs, it is the govt's job to take care of this, and not for them to accommodate more immigrants, the govt has to get growth without immig - that's their job!

What LKY really does not understand is he lived a wasted life with delusions of grandeur exceeding his personal capabilities and understanding and is beginning to see some of it now. You live only once. Be happy and strive for happiness. Greed, pride and power gets you no where. Remember Emperor Palpatine when he feel down the abyss in the Death Star. Not sure if he died from the fall or the explosion of the Death Star. Anyhow, we all get by in spite of LKY's 50 years of irritation and obstacle laying towards the happiness of Singaporeans and Malaysians.

Bangla men and men holding hands means friends. Notice that no or very few Banglas or Indians hold hands with women even if their wives. Chinese men always insist on holding hands with their women whether GFs or wives. If the man becomes not interested in holding hands with her, the GF or wife can start worrying about possibility of breakup or divorce. It's a signal to public that "the girl is mine." Westerners are a bit in between, not so concerned about holding hands or not. But if two western men hold men, you can bet your bottom dollar that they're gay lovers. The usual western practice of signalling to public that the two (man and woman) are a couple is the woman clinging to the arm of her man, popularly adopted practice in contemporary Chinese culture too. Traditional Japanese men are the best. The woman must walk behind her man and keep following and pacing without asking where he's going and just keep following. That was actually the ancient Chinese practice too, that the Japanese learned and adopted. However, this practice has also been diluted somewhat by influence from contemporary western and Chinese practices.

Agree with you. For those who are transient workers, just tighten regulations so that they don't frighten away our tourists at Sentosa beaches and our beautiful female swimmers at our public pools, and that should be enough. What need to be restricted are those who come in to share the rice bowls of local Singaporeans with their fake certifications.

LKY made many mistakes and shd just let the younger leaders govern SG now.
Singapore and Singaporeans now are different from SG and Singaporeans of his time. Unlike during LKY's time, the pap cant totally control information now. LKY is still living in ancient times and think that Singaporeans now are as gullible as those during his premiership. How wrong he is.
