I was at Sim Lim a few days ago looking for an external HDD. Found out that many shops were already matching the "Special" prices being offered at the show. Saved $4 on the HDD that I bought.
Nowadays price difference too small to waste time to go IT show or sim lim. I prefer to look for second hand deals online.
Used to go to the IT shows regularly until it became too crowded. I think it was 6 year ago that I last visited a show

An exhibit at Suntec was the last for me. I almost paid a fine for not putting cash card for an ERP on a Saturday!!! Luckily, LTA inform me of the change, auto waivered it and paid a one dollar entry fee.
Once upon a time IT shows were held at World Trade Centre, now known as Harbourfront.
There were also quite a number of great exhibitions held there: book fairs, pet exhibitions, toy fairs, art exhibitions.
Nowadays the IT shows are predictable and boring. Some telcos always hoard a large portion of the exhibition space. Some parts sell televisions and refrigerators... makes you wonder if you're at Harvey norman. The clusterfuck squeeze from the increased population also does not help.

When you get to Suntec, getting a parking place is a nightmare especially on a Saturday
It's no fun driving in Spore because you have to pay $$ & it's getting harder to find parking space. Maybe that's why for me it was easy to give up driving,

Went there on Thursday before 12. No ERP.
Managed to get a lot near the lift upon arrival.
Had lunch at the coffee bean with a mate that cost just over $40, so ask for a complimentary parking ticket to offset my $15 parking fees.

Aren't these types of shows low brow catering to the unwashed unruly masses since these types of shows attract those from that ilk and they held the fair at a supposed high brow place. Marina bay sands.

I remember hearing something interesting about the weekend car scheme. It seems that someone in the gov't miscalculated & it was cheaper to get a weekend car & pay $ for using it as a normal car. This is an old story & of course the mistake was corrected.

Unless you work in sales or a job that requires a car I don't think it's worth it to have a car. That's why I chose to buy a home that is nearby to amenities & a MRT station.
I doubt that Marina Bay could survive just on the business from tourists. They need the unwashed masses. It's a big place that requires $$$ daily to keep the place going.
