My grandpa gave me a bag full of stamps that he collected when he was in other countries. Some are the ones he used to send letters to the other countries, thers are unused stamps. Is is a good hobby and feasible enough to collect old stamps?

Depends how u look at it. If u like it not for the value then it is a hobby. :)

You will have to do some homework. If the stamps are before 1940 then they will have some value. (Anything after 1940 is not considered old enough and not much of a collectible.) Even then, due to the Internet most collectors have realised that what they have isn't that rare.

If the stamps are after 1940, they will have very little value, unless they are unused.

LOL, I love this kind of threads!!! keep it up!!!

i remember years ago in the 90's, dbs's safe boxes got wet cos' of flood, my friend's collection of stamps were destroyed. i think the bank compensate but little, his stamps' market worth then was about at least 20, 30 grand.

something that is old may not be valuable. did you watch pawn star?

Guessed till now, not many people really know how stamps are being valued..am sure there's always a market for coins' collection though.

Yup coins more popular.

Stamp collectors are said to be older in age than coin collectors.
