Was Lionel Jerome De Souza an "advisor" to the Minister of Home Affairs and Commissioner of Police when he was in active service? Certainly NOT.....
Hence, I fail to understand why, when anything goes amiss in Singapore, the Straits Times teams will go looking for him for his pearly "advice", etc...
This "glorification" clearly shows one thing - "that many ex-cops cannot match the special talents, traits and experience that make up the "ammunition" of Lionel Jerome De Souza's Past Experience and Skills Arsenal".
His name maybe Eurasian but he certainly is a Cantonese speaker and more Chinese.
Harmon Singh is another "mentally-retarded" ex-cop (who served only 18 years in SPF @ Beach Road) but who carried an x number of "pagers" before, an x number of handphones todays, besides possessing many other "cloak and dagger" gadgets.
Like "Proffessor" Zeng Guo-yuan, Harmon also has openly exhibited his Private Eye "Degrees" from countries like Sri Lanka, etc...
Approach him one day and request a business card from him. Its all there.
I feel sorry for the tops cops of yesteryears who are taking their knowledge along with them to the furnaces or burial grounds...
