I do not believe that "settlement" is the correct term, because Leong the defendant did not agree, because it was decided by the Court, to award costs and disbursements to Lee the plaintiff.

Their decisions will be influenced by the donation. More donations means people are supporting the appeal.

I also believe that an appeal in a Singapore Court of law is unlikely to result in Leong's favour.
Pay the damages and cost award, and move on.
