I have a few close friends who work in American MNCs, both in regional and global offices. Their views of Indians:
1. Most are good networkers and suave talkers. They brown-nose superiors to climb the corporate ladder. Backstabbing is a common trait.
2. Majority are more talk than action. Most of the middle management are crap. Some with dubious backgrounds can't perform at all.
3. Let one guy run a dept and he'll hire a busload from India. Jokes about needing an Indian visa to enter certain depts are aplenty.
3. A few, perhaps less than one in 20, are really good at what they do, and deserve their senior executive positions.
End of day, there are a few deserving Indian chief honchos but lots of bullshitters.
But comparing Indians with other Asians is pointless and moronic. All Indian Indians speak and write English, and many upper class Indians are schooled in British and American universities. Some of the world's greatest English language writers are Indian.
You'll never see a Chinese or Jap or Korean or Taiwanese CEO of a Western MNC because of the lingo gap. This despite the fact that Japan was the first Asian nation to industrialize, almost overtook the USA, and is still the #3 economy in the world. And things will not change even when China overtakes the US in the next 10 years as the #1 economy.
You can have Chinese/Jap/Korean MNCs but never an East Asian helming a Western MNC.
