SINGAPORE - There were 25 new coronavirus cases, including 13 in the community, announced on Tuesday (May 11).
Seven of the community cases are linked to the 88-year-old cleaner who works at Changi Airport Terminal 3, taking the total number of cases linked to the cluster to 17.
Another three community cases are linked to previous patients.
The remaining three are currently unlinked.
Eight of the community cases had already been placed under quarantine earlier.
The new cases take Singapore's total tally to 61,403, with 11 active clusters.

The other 12 cases were imported. They had been placed on stay-home notice (SHN), said the Ministry of Health (MOH). Among them were five Singaporeans or permanent residents.
There were no cases from the workers' dormitories.
More details will be announced on Tuesday night.
On Monday, two of the three new Covid-19 cases in the community reported were people who work at Changi Airport Terminal 3.

One of the two linked is a 44-year-old Singaporean employed in operations at the Raffles Medical clinic in Terminal 3.
He was swabbed on Sunday (May 9) during the Ministry of Health's special operation to test all staff working at Terminals 1 and 3, and Jewel. His test came back positive on Monday and he was taken to the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID) in an ambulance. He has had both doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.
The second patient is a 59-year-old aviation security officer employed by Certis Cisco at Terminal 3. His job entails security screening at the departure hall.
He developed a cough on May 5 but did not seek medical treatment until two days later, when he visited a general practitioner. He was given three days' medical leave.
On May 8, he sought treatment at another GP clinic as he had not recovered and was tested for Covid-19 the next day. He tested positive yesterday and was taken to NCID in an ambulance.
His earlier tests from rostered routine testing - the last being on May 4 - were all negative for the infection. He has had both doses of the vaccine.

The remaining community case on Monday is unlinked and is a 59-year-old chef at MOS Burger - Suntec City. Her work does not involve interacting with diners.
She went to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital on Sunday for an unrelated condition and was tested for Covid-19 even though she was asymptomatic. She returned a positive result on the same day.
Overall, the number of new cases in the community fell from 59 in the week before to 32 in the past week. The number of unlinked cases in the community rose from nine to 10 in the same period.
There were also 16 imported cases, all of whom had been placed on SHN or isolated on arrival from Singapore.
Meanwhile, Geylang Serai Malay Market and Food Centre, Joo Chiat Complex, Tanjong Katong Complex and a Courts outlet at Jurong Point mall were among the new places visited by infectious Covid-19 patients.
The Courts outlet was visited by a patient on April 29 while the other three locations were all visited by infected patients May 4.
The Ministry of Health said it would have already notified those who were identified as close contacts of the confirmed cases.

With 20 people discharged on Monday, 60,938 have fully recovered from the disease.
A total of 135 patients remain in hospital, including three in critical condition in intensive care. Giving an update on Tuesday, Minister for Health Gan Kim Yong said two of those in intensive care are linked to the TTSH cluster.
Another 259 patients are recuperating in community facilities.
Singapore has had 31 deaths from Covid-19 complications, while 15 who tested positive have died of other causes.
Globally, the virus outbreak, which began in December 2019, has infected more than 157 million people. Over 3.29 million people have died.

MAY 12, 2021

SINGAPORE - There were 16 new coronavirus cases, including 10 in the community, reported on Wednesday (May 12).
Seven of the community cases are linked to the Changi Airport cluster, taking the total number of cases in the cluster to 25.
Another two community cases are linked to previous cases.
The last case is currently unlinked.
The new cases take Singapore's total tally to 61,419, with 11 active clusters.
The other six cases were imported. They had been placed on stay-home notice (SHN), said the Ministry of Health (MOH).

There were no cases from the workers' dormitories.
More details will be announced on Wednesday night.
On Tuesday, there were 13 new cases of Covid-19 reported in the community, two of whom are hospital staff.
The first is a 42-year-old operating theatre technician at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH), said the Ministry of Health (MOH). His infection is currently unlinked.

He had returned from Malaysia on Jan 10 and served SHN until Jan 24, and tested negative for the virus then.
He developed a cough on April 21 but did not seek medical treatment until Monday, when he tested positive at the hospital's staff clinic.
MOH said that as his CT value was very high and his serology test has come back positive, it is possible that he is no longer infectious.
"However, given that we are not able to definitively conclude when he had been infected, we will take all the necessary public health actions as a precautionary measure," the ministry said on Tuesday.

The second case is a 43-year-old housekeeper at Changi General Hospital who has preliminarily tested positive for the B1617 variant of the virus that was first detected in India.
She was quarantined on May 8 after being identified as a close contact of a previous case, and developed a cough the next day.
She is fully vaccinated.
Her infection has been linked to the cluster surrounding a cleaner working at Changi Airport Terminal 3. She was one of seven reported cases linked to the cluster on Tuesday.
A previously reported case - an 18-year-old student of Victoria Junior College - has also been linked to the cluster, said MOH.
MOH has determined that the student was at the foodcourt in Changi Airport Terminal 3 on May 3 - the same day that two other Covid-19-positive patients were there. It said that she is likely to have been infected then.
Her infection prompted a mass swabbing exercise of about 2,200 people at her school and a shift to home-based learning this week.
Tuesday's unlinked cases included a 50-year-old man who works part-time as a barista at Starbucks in Plaza Singapura and as a general worker at LBC Express in Lucky Plaza.
He developed a cough and shortness of breath last Thursday but did not seek medical treatment. On May 8, he went to a general practitioner's clinic, where he was tested for Covid-19 infection the next day. He had received one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine on April 24.

MOH said the number of new cases in the community has decreased to 40 in the past week, from 63 cases two weeks ago. The number of unlinked cases in the community in a week has increased to 12 cases from nine over the same period.
There were also 12 imported cases for a total of 25 new Covid-19 cases reported on Tuesday.
With 22 cases discharged on Tuesday, 60,960 patients have fully recovered from the disease.
A total of 144 patients remain in hospital, including three in critical condition in the intensive care unit, while 253 are recuperating in community facilities. Singapore has had 31 deaths from Covid-19 complications, while 15 who tested positive have died of other causes.

SINGAPORE - There were 24 new coronavirus cases in the community announced on Thursday (May 13), the highest daily number recorded since July 11, 2020, when Singapore reported 24 cases.
Of the community cases the Ministry of Health (MOH) revealed on Thursday, 17 are linked to the Changi Airport cluster. This takes the total number of patients in the cluster to 42.
One other community case is linked to previous cases. The remaining six cases are currently unlinked.
Among these community patients, 14 had already been placed on quarantine.
In total, there were 32 new coronavirus cases reported on Thursday (May 13).
The new cases take Singapore's total tally to 61,451, with 12 active clusters.

The other eight cases were imported and had been placed on stay-home notice (SHN) on arrival in Singapore, said MOH.
There were no cases from the workers' dormitories.
Separately, JurongHealth Campus, which Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH) is a part of, said the current symptoms experienced by an NTFGH staff who tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday was assessed to be because of the rhinovirus, which causes the common cold.
In a Facebook post on Thursday, it said the NTFGH operating theatre technician was confirmed positive for rhinovirus after being tested for other common viruses which cause acute respiratory illness.

Given his positive serology result and high CT values, the campus added that he is likely to be shedding minute fragments of Covid-19 from a past infection, which is no longer transmissible nor infective to others.

Meanwhile, all patients that the man had been in contact with have tested negative for Covid-19.
As a precautionary measure, his household contacts have also been swabbed and their results are pending.
"We are glad that our colleague is currently recovering well and we will continue to support him and his family," said the statement.
More details will be announced on Thursday night.
On Wednesday, there were 16 cases of Covid-19 infection confirmed, 10 of which are community cases and the other six imported ones.
Of the community cases, seven are linked to the Changi Airport cluster.
Members of the public who had visited Changi Airport Terminal 3 since May 3 will be offered free Covid-19 testing, said MOH.
"MOH will progressively inform these individuals via SMS notification with information on how to book an appointment for their test," it added.

The sole unlinked case is another hospital worker - this time at Sengkang General Hospital.
He is a 33-year-old operating theatre nurse who had received both doses of the Covid-19 vaccine. He has preliminarily tested positive for the B1617 variant of the virus first identified in India.
Three of the seven new cases linked to the Changi Airport cluster have also preliminarily tested positive for the B1617 variant.
They are a 39-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman, who both work as Immigration and Checkpoints Authority officers at Terminal 3, and a 65-year-old cleaner employed by Ramky Cleantech Services, also working at Terminal 3.
Five of the seven are fully vaccinated.
The remaining cases comprise another cleaner - a 62-year-old - also employed by Ramky CleanTech Services, a 24-year-old employed by Huawei Enterprise as an IT engineer at Terminal 4, a 28-year-old employed by Certis Cisco at Terminal 3 and a 42-year-old sales associate at a retail store at Terminal 3.
They are all men.

The other two community cases were linked to other clusters.
The first is a 36-year-old Vietnamese woman who is a short-term visit pass holder. She is a household contact of the Grab driver who was confirmed to have Covid-19 on May 8 - prompting the designation of a new cluster.
The last community case is a 64-year-old Singaporean woman who had been warded at Tan Tock Seng Hospital's Ward 9D. Her Covid-19 test on Tuesday while under quarantine returned positive. She had previously tested negative on April 26, April 28 and April 30.
MOH said the six imported cases had been placed on SHN.
The number of new cases in the community has decreased from 62 cases two weeks ago to 49 in the past week.
However, the number of unlinked cases in the community in a week has increased from seven cases to 12 over the same period.

With 31 cases discharged on Wednesday, 60,991 patients have fully recovered from the disease.
A total of 143 patients remain in hospital, including three in critical condition in the intensive care unit, while 239 are recuperating in community facilities.
Singapore has had 31 deaths from Covid-19 complications, while 15 who tested positive have died of other causes.

SINGAPORE - There were 52 new coronavirus cases, including 24 in the community, announced as at Friday noon (May 14) by the Ministry of Health (MOH).
Of the community cases, four are currently unlinked.
Thirteen are linked to the Changi Airport cluster, taking the total number of patients in the largest active cluster to 59.
The remaining seven community cases are linked to previous cases.
Among the community patients, 16 had already been placed on quarantine.
The new cases take Singapore's total tally to 61,505.

The other 28 cases were imported and had been placed on stay-home notice (SHN) on arrival in Singapore, said MOH. Of these, 19 are returning Singaporeans or permanent residents.
There were no cases from the workers' dormitories.
On Thursday, there were 24 Covid-19 community cases reported, including four which were unlinked.
The unlinked cases on Thursday comprised a tutor at Learning Point, two foreign domestic workers and a homemaker.

Several of the new cases reported on Thursday had also visited Changi Airport Terminal 3.
They included a 44-year-old private hire car driver with Gojek who visited Changi Airport Terminal 3 on May 6. Another is a 44-year-old homemaker who visited the same terminal on numerous occasions.
A National Parks Board landscaper, who tested positive for Covid-19 on May 8, and his wife whose test result came back positive on Tuesday were also added to the cluster on Thursday.
On Wednesday, epidemiological investigations by MOH showed that the landscaper had been at Changi Airport Terminal 3 on May 3 and May 4.
He had visited the same locations as a cleaner and safety coordinator who work there during their infectious period.
"He was likely to have been infected while he was at Changi Airport Terminal 3," said MOH on Wednesday.
The only new linked case who was not part of the Changi Airport cluster is a seven-year-old pupil at Yio Chu Kang Primary School.
He is a household contact of a Sengkang General Hospital operating theatre nurse.
Separately, Sengkang General Hospital said on Thursday that the nurse is warded in an isolation ward and is doing well. All staff who were in contact with him have also been quarantined.
Of the 24 community cases reported on Thursday, 10 preliminarily tested positive for the B1617 variant, which was first detected in India. Eight of them were linked to the Changi Airport cluster.
There were also 10 imported cases who were placed on SHN or isolated on arrival in Singapore, said MOH.
Two Ikea outlets and more than 10 malls were among 47 places added to the list of locations visited by Covid-19 patients while they were still infectious on Thursday night.
They include Plaza Singapura, Paya Lebar Quarter Mall, Bedok Point, Parkway Parade as well as Ikea outlets at Alexandra and Tampines.
Changi General Hospital, Safra Tampines and Yio Chu Kang ActiveSG Sports Hall were also added.
Those identified as close contacts of confirmed cases would already have been notified, MOH added.
With 23 cases discharged on Thursday, 61,014 patients have fully recovered from the disease.
A total of 150 patients remain in hospital, including three in critical condition in the intensive care unit.
Another 243 patients are recuperating in community facilities.
Singapore has had 31 deaths from Covid-19 complications, while 15 who tested positive have died of other causes.
Globally, the virus outbreak, which began in December 2019, has infected more than 160 million people. Over 3.33 million people have died.

SINGAPORE - There were 31 new coronavirus cases, including 19 in the community as at Saturday noon (May 15), said the Ministry of Health (MOH).
Of the community cases, two are currently unlinked.
There were also 12 imported cases who had been placed on stay-home notices on arrival in Singapore, said the ministry.
Of these, seven are returning Singaporeans or permanent residents.
The new cases take Singapore's total to 61,536. More details will be announced on Saturday night.
On Friday, MOH said that five primary school pupils have tested positive for the coronavirus after attending classes run by an infected tuition teacher at Learning Point - an enrichment centre located in Parkway Centre.

They are two boys aged seven and nine who go to St Stephen's School, a nine-year-old girl and an eight-year-old boy from Kong Hwa School, and a boy aged nine who goes to St Andrew's Junior School.
Their teacher is a 50-year-old woman who was confirmed to have the infection on Wednesday.
The five children were among the 24 confirmed Covid-19 cases in the community reported by MOH on Friday.
They make up a new cluster - one of two reported on Friday.

The other new cluster surfaced after a fully vaccinated employee at Unity Pharmacy tested positive.
His infection has been linked to that of an operating theatre nurse at Sengkang General Hospital.
This cluster currently has three patients, the last of whom is a seven-year-old pupil at Yio Chu Kang Primary School.
Singapore now has 13 active clusters.

Thirteen of the other community cases have been linked to the Changi Airport cluster, taking the total number of patients in it to 59. Of these, six are airport staff employed at Terminals 1 and 3.

They are a 27-year-old who works in a retail store at Terminal 3; a 29-year-old who works as an IT support engineer in Terminal 1; two Certis employees aged 28 and 67; and two Immigration and Checkpoints Authority officers aged 51 and 57.
The other seven are contacts of patients in the cluster.
They comprise two cleaners at Kopitiam Square Sengkang; another cleaner at Robinson 77 in the Central Business District; a principal of a language school; a retail staff member at Ngee Ann City; an administrative worker at the Ministry of Manpower; and a 91-year-old housewife.
The last linked patient in the community is an 88-year-old man who had been warded at Tan Tock Seng Hospital's Ward 9D. His infection brings the number in that cluster to 45.
He had been in Ward 9D since April 19 and was transferred to the National Centre for Infectious Diseases on April 29. He has been tested for the virus daily since May 2, testing negative until Wednesday.

Among the community patients, 16 had already been placed on quarantine, said MOH.
Four of the 24 community cases are currently unlinked. They are a 39-year-old Sats Food Services worker deployed at Changi Prison; a 22-year-old cook at Wok Hey in White Sands mall; a 70-year-old retired woman; and a 48-year-old GrabFood delivery worker.
Another 28 cases were imported ones who had been placed on stay-home notice on arrival in Singapore, said MOH. Of these, 19 are returning Singaporeans or permanent residents.
MOH said the number of new cases in the community has risen from 43 cases two weeks ago to 91 in the past week. The number of unlinked cases in the community in a week has also increased from nine cases to 16 over the same period.

With 18 patients discharged on Friday, 61,032 patients have fully recovered from the disease.
A total of 180 patients remain in hospital, including three in critical condition in the intensive care unit, while 247 are recuperating in community facilities.
Singapore has had 31 deaths from Covid-19 complications, while 15 who tested positive have died of other causes.

SINGAPORE - There were 38 new Covid-19 cases, including 34 in the community, as at noon on Wednesday (May 19), said the Ministry of Health (MOH).
Of the community cases, four are currently unlinked.
The remaining 30 are linked to previous cases. Among them, 28 had already been quarantined.
There were also four imported cases who had been placed on stay-home notice on arrival in Singapore, said the ministry.
Of these, three are returning Singaporeans or permanent residents.
There were no new cases in the workers' dormitories.

The new cases take Singapore's total to 61,689.
More details will be announced on Wednesday night.
On Tuesday, 38 coronavirus cases were reported, including 27 cases in the community.
Among the 11 unlinked community cases were a Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) staff and a clinic assistant at Dorothy's Baby & Child Clinic in Bukit Timah Plaza.
Three of the community cases, including the MHA employee, had preliminarily tested positive for the B1617 variant first detected in India.
On Tuesday, MOH also identified four new clusters with three cases each.

Separately, epidemiological investigations connected six previously reported cases to the Changi Airport cluster.
They comprised a group of five patients linked to an operating theatre nurse at Sengkang General Hospital and a 47-year-old housewife whose test came back positive for the virus on May 12.
These findings took the total number of active clusters as at Tuesday to 19.
Globally, the virus outbreak, which began in December 2019, has infected more than 164 million people. More than 3.4 million people have died.

Is bribing of airline and security staff common in order for positive cases to get onto the plane?
Are the tests reliable?

Why hasn't the PAP government done anything?

The man had been hospitalised in TTSH Ward 9D on April 22 and was confirmed to have the virus on April 30.
He was not vaccinated against Covid-19 and had a history of lung cancer and atrial fibrillation. The man is the second patient in the C class ward to die from the infection.

On May 1, another patient from Ward 9D died from complications due to Covid-19 after she was confirmed to have the virus on April 28.
The 88-year-old Singaporean woman had been hospitalised there from April 14 and had a history of cancer, hypertension, congestive cardiac failure, stroke and hyperlipidaemia.
