All my life, I've never met or known a S'porean guy who liked or LOVED serving out his National Service. They always have s*** to say about it. They often tell me, "If only you know what we go through here for 2.5 years, you'll know why we feel so strongly against it"

A guy from my bro's school even had to give up his dream of accepting a scholarship at one of the most prestigious music schools in the USA because MINDEF wouldn't allow him to defer NS for just 1 year... He had to do a diploma instead!!

The ONLY people, i can tell you this, who keep waxing lyrical about how good National Service is for their sons and how they would willingly do NS if they had to, are the FOREIGNERS-TURNED-NEW-<!--<WBR />-->CITIZENS. They talk alot about this, but guess what... they don't have to do it!! That's why it's all just BULLSHIT!!!

I don't even wish NS for my own son... but these Indian FTs in the forum can say, "oh i think it's good for my son to do NS"?!! BULLSHIT.</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

Ns is too long. I did my ns too. I dun like ns but if u ask me is ns good? I think it has its good points but it can be reduced to 1 year instead n increase the reservice cycle for those who did ns for only 1 yr

I always tell girls who asked me about NS. I dun have to like it; I just have to do it. No doubt my vocation is not as as siong as commandos or engineers so they really tulan about it. But my thinking is the same as you, it is national security and we have to do it.

It does build up resilience doing things we do not like to do.

bro, one year or 6 mth...i am against it if it does not serve any purpose. During my time in NS, my time was wasted basically - rushing to wait, and waiting to rush - that sum up my life in NS. the crap about commaradaire and fortifying oneself is ridiculous, I can do that by going to the gym or signing up some teambuilding exercise.

yah, you learn to shoot a SAR21 but you ain't allow to vote. U aint allow to view R21 movies but u can see each others' cocks during shower time - tok about gay tendencies.

I have been thru n seriously, i learn nothing but a waste of time n my youth. Ok, i understand the reason for NS, to defend the country, etc. But r we recognised for our efforts? Who are we defending? Rising costs / rising influx of FTs....

the reality of losing 2 years - 2.5 years to the female counterparts as well as those Asian scholars, FT scholars are very real. You enter NS at the prime of your youth (18) and you waste your time - and you go through university - assuming you don't go crazy, injured, killed, etc. deferrment happens only in exceptional circumstances - eg: study medicine or scholarships.

an average joe will enter uni, and finishes the course in 3 years? Enters workforce...2 years lag time in corporate world is huge. U imagine u will be reporting to your JC / poly classmate whom u have a crush on...or a FT classmate - not by your fault becos u fucked up ur job but bcos u goto be held back for 2 years.

I guess u need to get an education, u obviously cannot read. I only used the backpack carrying maid as one example ans not the single point. I also used handbag carrying males as another, and many more that I care not to name, that's why I used etc. And don't change the subject. How about countries that DON"T HAVE NS?
