I have a dream...Kishore Mahbubani...

Allow me to disclose a not-so-closely-guarded secret.

His sons have served national service -> That is a
They have dual citizenship - > That is a secret until now.

Old Fart and Pinky close one eye as long as Malu Money remain a faithful dog (or sicko-fan).

Now that's interesting!!! Lots of that going on with our PAP!!!

I do not hear any local radio stations.

It stinks to the highest heavens.

I truly love BBC - British Broadcasting Corporation.

I do not subscribe to BBC - BODEK, BEDEK, CHERDEK.

I think we should all learn to write like Kishore. Good and powerful English, great reasoning prowess and speaking his mind fearlessly. How I wish I can just think a bit like him and write like him. He is one of the very few Think Tanks in Singapore. Tommy Koh is another great intellectual whom I admire tremendously. They can contribute a great deal to improving Singapore by speaking up and motivating others. Catherine Lim is also another one who uses the power of the English language to bring across her points. Another powerful writer. Good for Singapore. And of course we have many others who are the silent but powerful and influential writers.

Well I admire Catherine and Tommy over Kishore anytime. They not afraid to speak their mind.

The writer, Kishore Mahbubani, is one of the few intellectuals whom I greatly admire. He is a man of principles and a man of great moral courage. An intellectual giant among his peers and a great philosophy too. A truthful and concerned Singaporean. I enjoyed reading all his articles. And this article is just one of the many he has written with so much brilliance, with so much passion and with so much love for the Little Red Dot.

..My opinion differs....

Ask these questions... Who pays his salary..??
Who do he vote for.????

Then you realise that he has to practise self-censorship and cannot be 100% truthful and factual and as you mentioned, brilliant.

So most of his articles, I pass...

I concur...we should have an award, like what they have in the States... Profile in Courage Award.....set up by the JFK family..

Sadly, we are ranked 154th..so u know all the slant reports we have in our daily media...( the latest...the IOC President bid, how the press glamorise their choice candidate. But the world think otherwise.)

It could be Malu Money seeks prior approval from his political masters before his articles go to print.

Intellectual integrity and honesty are values which are highly treasured by many and I am sure Kishore is one of the proponents of such values. He is a brave man and I admire him for voicing his opinions.

Errr... What's so brave about it???

Yes, I do respect his intellectual stand on many matters. And we do have a couple more who have been lying low and not writing much these days. Many of them are very dedicated and committed Singaporeans.

Eleanor Wong is another impressive S'porean. Now teaching at NUS.

Ms Eleanor Wong is a local playwright and the Director of the Legal Skills Programme Law Faculty of the National University of Singapore.

Eloquent and discerning, she prosecuted several high profile commercial and securities frauds as a deputy public prosecutor at the beginning of her career. She subsequently ventured into the media industry to join The Right Angle, a local production company where she was involved in business development, corporate affairs, technology ventures, communications training and consultancy.

For once, I can agree with you. But once he joins the PAP, he is enemy number 1.

So why did we fail? The answers must be complex. But one fundamental error could be simple. We expected every artery of this ecosystem to be financially viable. The disastrous result of looking at each artery and not looking at the ecosystem as a whole is that while each artery made sense in isolation, the combination did not result in a good ecosystem. Even more dangerously, by looking at each unit in isolation, we did not consider its impact on the island or the nation as a whole.

The public transit system is subsidized everywhere except in sinkapore where it is expected to be profitable.
Public transit saves money as it reduces the need to build more roads to accommodate the increase in cars. It reduces pollution, etcetra.
The PAP is again playing a two-faced game ...it wants the money generated by car ownership. It collects more than it spends on public transportation. So, the state of the public transit is not of concern until sinkees wallop the government.

Agreed. KM should shut the fuck up and enjoy his tenure and retirement quietly whilst he can with no one asking probing questions just why he is still at LKY IPP. People like us have to work till our death unlike this PAP stooge reveling in PAP's largesse.

KM's dream is nightmare to many others. While he was PS MFA, this chap shivers whenever Lim Siong Guan was around. He was that afraid of another human.

I admire truly brilliant and intelligent independent-minded people like the former Magistrate Jeffrey Chan and DJ Michael Khoo.

The fact that I can remember them until today speaks volumes about their true calibre.

Instead of hearing KM and the rest, I rather listen to some other local speakers and others appearing in Outlook Studios, BBC.

the ideals espoused are not bad and very progressive, especially on electric cars and car sharing. zip cars are everywhere now in the bay area, but the program requires a conscientious and considerate population. same with bike sharing. it's taking off, and it will continue to expand to all other cities. the problem lies with a minority of gangs, thugs and criminals who exploit the programs and steal these assets for their own ill gotten gains.
