I am the only person who speaks in English whenever I walk around my neighbourhood

I am the only Singaporean Chinese who speaks in English whenever I walk around my neighbourhood. At the coffeeshop ordering food, at the retail outlets buying stuff, I am always the only guy using English.

I spend most of my days wondering if I am living in Chinatown. But I guess it surely is too much to expect Singaporeans to be literate to the level of a five year old. Or to speak their country's working language or the language their constitution is written in to a five year old level.

Just look at the threads in this forum and many others Singaporean forums written in that delightful Engrish that would make a brick wall vomit.

Coffeeshop/ any retail outlet:

Me -> iced tea pls
Old hawker donkey -> what is tea?
Me -> iced tea
Old hawker donkey -> huh? + mumbles in hokkien
Me -> forget it old man

The PAP regime has decimated our local culture and denied the young opportunity to learn dialects.

Next time pity the old uncle, just say TEH PENG.

BUT ONLY IF it is a SINGAPOREAN UNCLE manning the stall.

If from PRC, please INSIST ON ENGLISH. If they cannot answer in our working language, ASK THEM FUCK OFF.

Please, it would be easier to kill me than to make me speak Chinese or Hokkien. I totally dislike China and Chinese culture.

Old Singaporean donkies are the worst. I can still understand if Chinese immigrants can't speak English since they are immigrants.

How can anyone spend their entire life in Singapore but can't take a simple order or hold a simple conversation is beyond me. Ship these idiots to China or something.

Oh, fuck you! I can speak English better than you (don't even try me), I can speak Singlish by just tuning myself and I can also say "Uncle, Kopi Peng Kosong" or "Makcik, Kopi Ais Kosong Satu". Only losers like you pretend to be superior to the kopi uncle, some of whom can buy out your family 17 times over.

I am just ordering food in a 5 year old's language, you call that trying to be superior? You are so pathetic that you consider speaking like a 5 year old to be "trying to be superior".

But since you are on the topic of superiority, I am superior, even without trying. Buy out my family? These beggars can hardly afford to buy a coffin for themselves after they die of stroke. Their lives are totally worthless

I can speak Singlish by just tuning myself

Speaking of this pidgin used by illiterates called "Singlish", it is a total turn off and a national disgrace. I wince and cringe everytime I hear someone speak that way. Even 5 year olds are better than that. In fact, 80% of the time I hear a Singaporean speak English, I cringe and feel the urge to get out of hearing distance as quickly as possible.

Only lowlifes speak that way. Excuse me while I get a plastic bag to puke into, lest I puke on your face.

If you are the only one in your neighborhood that speaks English something is very wrong at your neighborhood .
But I believe that is not possible since with so many FTs in Singapore . Most already speak a good level of English .

If you are the only one . Meaning you have not move UP or OUT . Since it makes you the exceptional one .

Maybe your English is so bad that none of them understood what you were saying?

You should direct your anger at foreigners, not at singaporeans who have been deprived of an opportunity due to govt policies.

I congratulate you on your good English but can't help commenting that there's another aspect to it. I speak Singlish at coffeeshops and hawkers'. Well, a mix of the various dialects and some Malay. It's readily and friendily understood and gets things done. Kopi-o siu tai, teh-o gula sedikit etc. What's the point of speaking Queen's English? Doing a BBC interview?

Sure, there are many Malays, Indians etc who speak English. But I am the only Singaporean Chinese who speaks English around here.

The foreigners are ok. These older Singaporeans are absolutely disgusting and crooked to the core. You spent your whole life in Singapore and cannot take a simple order or read your bills?

Something is seriously wrong with you.

I certainly don't speak the Queen's English. I order food in the simplest English possible.

"Char kway teow, takeway" "Iced tea".

Knowing Singapore and Singaporeans, certainly it is too much to expect them to be literate to a 5 year old's level.

Singaporean culture is about how selfish, defensive and illiterate you can be.

What you suggest can be done ?

Nothing can be done. Singaporeans are too stupid.

Another of Sam Leong's clone nick.

So full of discrimination. So many of those who migrated out of Singapore only became racists and discriminate against other races.

He must be living in the heartlands. Maybe a recent graduate who believes he is above others. Sounds like a typical MIW alright. No need to take up space here to boast about his powerful 'england'. You don't get paid 'yaya' in the neighbourhood. Screwed-up character.

I think it should be char kway teow tar pau, or for Malay version, mee goreng bungkus. Anyway, in US and UK, different terms are used too. In US, it's called food to go, and in UK it's called takeaway food.

I can confirm he is not but he can join tonychat and Leongsam butt-fuckin' each other in the same room.

Leongsam doesn't need to create a new clone moomoo when mehmeh55 was assed by the OA months ago. He can just unban himself.

I was just lamenting how I feel like I live in Chinatown these days.

Screwed-up character? I take it you haven't been out of your house before. People like me are mostly righteous and morally upright.

Take a good look at your nearby hawker centre and you would see what screwed-up illiterate gangster trash with not a single shred of moral, decency, courtesy in them look like. More crooked than crooked. They all have that look in their eyes if you look closely enough. Scientists call it the "look of illiteracy and gansterism".

Alternatively, just look in the mirror.
