Happiness from materialism is short lived. In a week or so the novelty would have worn off.

On the other hand happiness from achievements lasts a lot longer and can be used as a foundation for even higher pursuits.

Achievements like what? In SFC (and other clear shit jobs) I also got happiness from job achievement and what’s the end result? Such happiness are all fake and short lived too. Only your own business that you are in total control of then can get so called long term happiness from such achievements.

The achievements don't have to be work related in fact it's far better to concentrate on personal goals ie competing in an event or achieving a milestone in some aspect of life eg a hobby or a health benefit etc.

Hobby like piano does make one happy but such happiness is short lived with limitations too when you hit a plateau and you can’t play faster and better.
