I for one, am for the govt supporting unwed mothers and equal benefits.
Why? It's an even more efficient way to boost birth rate. For a normal family, 2 parents produce one child at a replacement rate of 2:1. For a single parent it's 1:1.
Besides it's a personal choice and there should be no discrimination against them. Some are also victims of circumstances.

A yeah from me too, though for the latter circumstance (and not for your statistical anomaly reason). Neither do I subscribe to another forummer's caution against ills of the west on having kids out of wedlock. Social norms are quite different in these parts.

Stigma here is already daunting enough, without having to lose out on bread and butter issues.
